Lakeside Child Care Centre is a Christian childcare center located inside Lakeside Church on the outskirts of Guelph. We are a small centre with two programs, five full-time staff and 26 children.

We are seeking an enthusiastic professional to join our team on a part-time basis. As supply staff, you should be flexible, willing to work a range of shifts and able to take initiative. You could work between 3-25 hours per week.

Requirements:
  • Up-to-date CPR Level C/Standard First Aid certification
  • Up-to-date immunizations
  • Recent vulnerable sector screening (not to exceed six months) – or obtain one upon hire
  • Flexible and willing to work any hours between 7am-6pm, Monday to Friday
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities:
  • Properly supervise and engage with children ranging from 12 months to 4.5 years
  • Work effectively within a team of teachers
  • Provide and maintain a safe and sanitary classroom
  • Build rapport and relationship with families
  • Any additional duties as requested by the supervisor
 
Rate of Pay:  Negotiable based on experience

We are seeking an enthusiastic professional to join our toddler team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and implementing a diverse program that engages all areas of children’s development while following child-led curriculum, the How Does Learning Happen document and the CCEYA.

Requirements:
  • ECE Diploma from a recognized university or college of applied arts and technology
  • Must be a registered member of the College of ECE’s
  • CPR/First Aid certified
  • Up-to-date immunizations
  • Must be able to work all hours the childcare is open, 7am-6pm, Monday to Friday
  • Recent vulnerable sector screening (in last six months)
  • RIRO resiliency training (to be completed in the first year of employment)
 Duties and Skills:
  • Lead toddler team (staff, children, and families)
  • Take responsibility for daily written communication, documentation, and required day-to-day paperwork.
  • Desire to build authentic relationships with young children
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team
  • Provide and maintain an aesthetically pleasing/sanitary space for the children each day

Job Summary:
To supervise the children in the assigned classroom in accordance with the philosophy of the Centre and provincial and federal legislation and guidelines by:
Ensuring the safety and physical well-being of the children, carrying out curriculum on a daily basis and evaluation of the effectiveness of the program in terms of meeting the needs of the children in all stages of development, maintaining regular communication with parents and contributing to the effective operation of the overall child care program while promoting and implementing practices of Anishnabek heritage.
 
The Registered Early Childhood Educator will adhere to the College of Early Childhood Educators Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice as well as the requirements of the Child Care Early Years Act.
Education
  • Must hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education from an Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology, OR
  • A diploma from a recognized post-secondary program recognized by the College of Early Childhood Educators, OR
  • A letter of recognition of equivalency issued by the Association of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario (AECEO)
  • Must be a member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
Knowledge
  • A good working knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act and How Does Learning Happen?
Skills/Abilities
