Brief Description of Position:
SimplySmart Child Care Centre is now looking for an experienced Teacher in their Preschool classroom to start immediately. Bilingualism (English & French) is an asset but not mandatory. Experience with program development, managing all the ministry requirements & thinking out of the box are requirements for being a part of the SimplySmart Team. A key requirement for teachers is to enjoy being around children and their ability to engage children. We are a blend of philosophies and so is our program which is a combination of academics and enrichment programming for children.

Qualifications/Requirements:
The candidate must have the following qualifications:
1. A diploma in early childhood education from an Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology.
2. At least 1 years of Experience working in a day care environment.
3. Prepared and developed programs for children in different age groups.
4. Innovative and dynamic personality.
5. Ability to work independently in different environments and with different people.
6. Strong inter personal skills to deal with children, teachers and parents.
7. Ability to engage and teach little children and get down to their level every day. 8. CPR and first aid trained. 8. Knowledge and understanding of the CCEYA.
 

Start Date: Immediately
RECE Starting Wage: $23.55 per hour plus 4% Vacation Pay and Wage Enhancement
Non RECE Starting Wage: $20.49 per hour plus 4% Vacation Pay and Wage Enhancement

Responsibilities:
To plan and implement age-appropriate programs to enhance the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional develop of children according to Jacob Hespeler Child Care Centre’s Mission, Vision, Philosophy and Program Statements, the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014,  How Does Learning Happen?, and Public Health Guidelines.
To adhere to all JHCCC policies and procedures as set by the Board of Directors.
 
Qualifications:

• ECE Diploma, Degree or equivalent as approved by the Ministry of Education, or working toward your ECE qualification
• Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators, not required if currently enrolled in ECE Diploma course
• Valid Standard First Aid & Infant and Child CPR level C certificate
• An original Police Vulnerable Sector Check dated within 6 months prior to being hired
• Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination (2 dose minimum)
• Certificates of completion of WHMIS and Health and Safety Training
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with families, colleagues, school board personnel, and the community
• Be organized and pay attention to detail with the ability to set priorities and complete assigned duties with minimal supervision
• Demonstrate enthusiasm, flexibility, dedication, and dependability
• Have a passion for life-long learning
• Knowledge of the pedagogical documentation cycle and implementing emergent curriculum
• Ability to use professional judgement daily within guidelines established by the College of Early Childhood Educators, Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, the Region of Waterloo and program policies
