live-out nanny

Seeking a live-out nanny who is energetic, patient and responsible to care for twin boys who are 3.5 years old.
We are looking for someone to keep the children active and engaged, ideally outdoors as much as possible.  Someone who takes COVID safety seriously and loves nature and crafts.  The twins are beginning potty training and are still in diapers. Our house is filled with toys and we have a fair sized yard and are minutes walk from several parks.  We also have an older daughter (7.5) who is in camps all summer, but would require pick up and drop off at the neighborhood school during September – June. The school is a 15 min walk from our home. The job would also involve some meal prep and light house keeping for the boys. My husband and I are both working from home and available to help as needed, but we just can’t carry on alone any more.  If you are a good fit for our family, please be in touch. 

Pay range: $16-$20/ hr depending on experience

Qualifications:
This is the sort of thing you'll be responsible for:
  • Implements quality programming for children ages 0-12 years old in accordance with Ontario’s Pedagogy, “How Does Learning Happen”
  • Provide support to all children in the classroom and understand each child’s specific needs to enable them to fully participate in activities
  • Establish and maintain collaborative, supportive relationships with parents/guardians, colleagues, and community professionals
  • Embrace reflective practices that respect diversity, equity, and inclusion with all children, families, and colleagues
  • Experience with HiMama or similar software for documentation and reporting purposes is a plus, but not a must.
  • Other related duties as assigned
 
It would be truly awesome (and required) if you also had:
  • A degree or diploma in early childhood education from a recognized college or university
  • Embrace reflective practices that respect diversity, equity, and inclusion with all children, families, and colleagues
  • Vulnerable sector criminal reference check (within the last six months) or ability to obtain VSCRC as a condition of employment
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C or ability to obtain same as a condition of employment

​Morningside Montessori is a small family-based school that provides authentic Montessori education for children 16 months through 6 years of age. Our passion is to provide an environment that encourages children to grow and develop to their potential. Morningside is looking for an experienced, dedicated and enthusiastic Registered Early Childhood Educator/Montessori Teacher to manage and maintain one of our classrooms following the Montessori Philosophy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Knowledge and implementation of Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA), Region of Waterloo Public Health requirements, Morningside Montessori School policies and procedures and the Montessori Philosophy
  • Manage and maintain a classroom environment that is complete, safe, clean and high-quality
  • Educate and support children in accordance with the Montessori Philosophy
  • Assess, observe and care for the individual needs of each child
  • Maintain professional and caring communication with parents, co-workers and administration
  • Maintenance of daily reporting and record keeping
  • Participate in all team meetings and school events
  • Participate in annual professional development activities in and out of work hours
  • Other duties as assigned 

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 1 year experience with young children
  • Professional and personable
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (French an asset)
  • Ability to provide emotional, physical and/or behavioural support to children
  • Ability to collaborate and work as a team member with families, co-workers and administration
  • Highly organized with attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Takes initiative and is proactive in and out of the classroom

The Waterloo Catholic District School Board with a total student population of 23,000, provides services to students in 50 schools (Kindergarten to Grade 12) across the Waterloo Region.

General Description of Duties:
  • Ensuring the rules and regulations of the Care for Newcomer Children program are followed
  • Delivery of a child centered program and preparing nutritious snacks
  • Attend professional development workshops as required by the funder
  • Communicating regularly with staff and supervisor
  • Collaborate with staff to develop and implement age-appropriate programming
  •  Attend and contribute to monthly staff meetings
  • Contribute to written reports and documentation
  • Complete other related duties as assigned by Program Manager

Minimum Requirements:
  • Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) or experience working in a childcare setting
  • Standard CPR/First Aid
  • Current certificate in Standard CPR/First Aid
  • Knowledge of current trends in the field of Early Childhood Education
  • Committed to providing quality inclusive childcare programming
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods; and must be able to physically assist children as
  • Required (e.g. lifting)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of classroom management
  • Minimum Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) of 5544
Desirable Assets:
  • Good Standing with the College of ECE’s
  • Knowledge and experience working in a LINC program
  • Excellent Communication and teamwork skills
  • Comfortable working in all program areas (e.g. infants, toddlers)
  • Fluent in a Second language
  • Computer knowledge (Microsoft office, outlook)
  • Understanding of “How Does Learning Happen

Salary Level: $19.87 (certified) or $15.50 (uncertified) per hour, plus Vacation Pay (rates under review)

Hours of Work:28 hours per week Monday – Friday, September to June. Hours of Work: 8:15 am - 3:00 pm
