Qualifications
Education: Post-Secondary in any of these fields: Community Development; Human Services; Community Based Social Work; Community Based Social Development or equivalent experience
 
Experience: 3-5 years work experience in community development, social development, programs and services, management, budgeting, and evaluation, including supervision.
 
Experience in community organizing and development, outreach and stakeholder engagement.
 
Certifications: First Aid, [UMAB (Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviours), ASIST Training, – are assets]
 
Requirements: Police Records Check, including a screening with the vulnerable sector. Access to reliable transportation; Valid “G” Class Driver’s licence; use of a personal car

This role offers a competitive salary $70,512.00, based on a 40-hour week and benefit package. Hours will range from weekday hours with flexibility to work occasional weeknight and weekend hours to meet the needs of the program.

We require a qualified individual to coordinate implementation, risk management, and quality assurance related to unpaid field placements and off-campus experiential learning for Community Services students in Early Childhood Education.

Responsibilities:Placement Organization (Student Placement & Preparation)
  • Provide verbal and written guidance to students based on Work Integrated Learning (WIL)/program protocols and requirements and ensure all risk management expectations are met including pre-placement health and safety requirements; inform academic coordinators of students with outstanding requirements
  • Communicate off-campus site expectations, including professionalism and safety to the student(s)
  • Collaborate with coordinators on matching students to approved sites, creating distinct placements, requiring individual, and often customized attention.
  • Schedule WIL arrangements for all students
  • Complete paperwork; set up and maintain student records
Site Organization (Site Planning & Preparation)
  • Serve as ongoing contact with WIL locations, providing guidance and explanation of expectations, responsibilities, and procedural requirements
  • Confirm approved sites and obtain documentation required prior to the commencement of unpaid placements through contact with WIL site supervisors and WIL Support Services
  • Attend faculty/program meetings and contribute to planning
Placement Implementation & Student Support
  • Supervise students in field placement settings, provide feedback to students, monitor student engagement with placements
  • Collect student work from placement/site supervisors and organize evaluation results (e.g., site supervisor feedback)
  • Meet/liaise with faculty, and/or placement/site supervisors, and/or students; contribute to issue identification, triage, and resolution/remediation

Qualifications:
  • Two-year Diploma in Early Childhood Education and current registration, in good standing, with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
  • Five years of current and relevant direct work experience in early childhood settings working with children and families
  • Practical experience working with community partners supporting Work Integrated Learning through relationship management, student support, risk management, customer service, and experience supporting logistical and/or administrative requirements is preferred
  • Customer service and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage operational information and files
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and accurately in writing and verbally
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to problem solve in consultation with faculty and community partners with attention to customer service, program delivery requirements, and student success
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently
  • Knowledge and experience of computer systems and educational technologies (e.g. D2L) and the ability to support students and community partners remotely is an asset

  • Work hours will be 25-30 hours a week, with the schedule and duties arranged with the Director.
  • St. John’s operates September through June (closed July and August, Christmas and March break)
  • Employment agreement is for 10 months of the year. (Sept through June)

DUTIES:
  • Assist the Director to carry out the decisions of the Board of Directors in order to fulfill the goals and objectives of the centre.

  • Supervise staff and monitor compliance and contraventions through observations and discussion with educators
  • Respond to family questions and requests that aligns with St. John’s program statement
  • Assist the Director with the daily operations of the Nursery School office and programs.
    • Maintain the database, allergy lists, medical and anaphylactic plans
    • ​Record all fees paid by families, and enter fees into database and complete all bank deposits
    • Reconcile weekly attendance and record any extra days or extended on fee files
    • Answer phone and respond to family requests
    • Respond to emails from families
    • Maintain and update Onelist, based on enrollment
    • Complete monthly newsletters, fire drills and playground inspections
    • Complete weekly tap flushing, monthly monitoring of tap temperatures, and annual tap testing
    • Maintain first aid kit levels and basic supplies required for the programs
    • Maintain Immunization List for Public Health
    • Maintain lunch orders and abide to all dietary restrictions
    • Conduct communication between the Snack and Purchasing committees for any required purchases
    • Weekly shopping (if required)
    • Email weekly accident reports to parents
    • Help plan and implement any special events
  • Direct liaison for all Students and Volunteers, including orientation and maintaining the required paperwork
  • Update all forms, policies, handbooks, and educator duties when changes made
  • Give tours of the school, prepare enrollment packages
  • Fulfill duties of the Director when required or when the Director is absent, report to the Director/and or Board of Directors when necessary.
  • Fill in as supply in the classrooms to cover ratio, or help educators when needed
  • Address emergency issues, or Ministry of Education requirements in absence of the Director

GENERAL PURPOSE:
 
To operate a 60 bed emergency shelter for women, transgendered people and families who are experiencing homelessness.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • Undergraduate degree in Social Services or equivalent human services education
  • Masters in Social Work would be an asset
  • A minimum of 5 years management experience with individuals in a mental health/addictions setting preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years management experience in a residential or shelter setting
  • Conceptual and theoretical knowledge of strength based mental health approaches, addictions, trauma, violence against women, women in conflict with the law, youth and adolescents, crisis and suicide intervention
  • Proven skills in support, counseling, conflict resolution, crisis intervention and suicide prevention and de-escalation skills
  • First Aid and CPR Level C Certification
  • Overdose Prevention Training
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others.
 
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES include but is not limited to:
 
  • Directly manages the operation of YWCA Emergency Shelter Services in accordance with all relevant legislation and regulations including MCSS, Child & Family Services Act, Region of Waterloo, YWCA Kitchener-Waterloo policies and procedures, beliefs and values, and the program philosophy.
  • Recruits and directly supervises shelter staff, volunteers or students.  Arranges staff training and supervision meetings in order to maintain a high quality of service.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for the effective and efficient operation of YW Emergency Shelter Services as required.
  • Conducts performance appraisals bringing issues of urgency, concerns and disciplinary actions to the Director
  • Approves all disciplinary action against shelter clients such as program restrictions, termination and planned intakes as per the Region of Waterloo Shelter Guidelines.
  • Schedules and facilitates regular meetings with staff to discuss and solve problems, set department goals, monitors and reviews specific clients and to develop programs.
 
 
 
  • Ensures the development, implementation and evaluation of individual and group programs that respond to the individual and cultural needs of clients. Seeks input from clients for the effective operation of the facility and services.
  • Assess the short term and long-term needs of clients through the use of SPDAT surveys and Housing Plans as required by the Region of Waterloo Shelter Guidelines.
  • Monitors case files and logbook.
  • Manages/monitors housing plans.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with other community agencies. Ensures that appropriate and effective referrals are made to other services in order to meet clients’ unique needs.
  • Makes presentations and gives tours to service clubs, foundations, individuals and other funding bodies.
  • Ensures that nutritious and appealing meals are planned, prepared, and served in accordance with Safe Food Handling, Canada Food Guide, and other pertinent legislation, standards and guidelines.
  • Be On-Call for 84 Frederick St programs.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Job Summary
The Childcare Centre Supervisor is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the MAC MGS Preschool and Childcare Centre and implementation of all policies and procedures as set by MAC and the Ministry of Education.
Job Duties
  • Oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the centre.
  • Foster effective teamwork between all staff.
  • Ensure that the operation of the organization meets the expectations of its clients and the organization.
  • Ensure that staff, client, and volunteer files are securely stored and privacy/confidentiality is maintained.
  • Ensure that the programs offered by the centre are high quality programs
  • Monitor the day-to-day delivery of the programs and maintain or improve quality.
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, execution and evaluation of special projects.
  • Determine staffing requirements for centre’s program delivery.
  • Establish a positive, healthy and safe work environment in accordance with all appropriate legislation and regulations.
  • Ensure that recruitment, interview and selection of staff procedures are followed.
  • Ensure that all staff receives an orientation to the centre and that appropriate training is provided.
  • Establish good working relationships with community organizations, the Professional Resource Centre, Region of Waterloo and other organizations to help achieve the goals of the centre.
 
Qualifications
  • Early Childhood Education Diploma or Bachelor
  • Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators and in good standing
  • Preferred three to give years of experience in a licensed child care centre.
  • Valid Food Safety certification
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification
  • Medical/immunization requirement as required by local Health Department.
  • Clear vulnerable sector check
  • Approval by the Ministry of Education

The Waterloo District School Board is hiring a Designated Early Childhood Educator Supervisor

The Board provides a comprehensive educational program for approximately 64,000 students in the Region of Waterloo. The Board is the seventh largest public school district in Ontario with 16 secondary schools, 105 elementary schools, and approximately 8,500 staff

Reporting to the Extended Day Program Manager, Financial Services, the successful candidate will partner with current Designated Early Childhood Educator (DECE) Supervisors to oversee the day‐to‐day operations of our growing Extended Day programs and be an active leader in the recruitment and hiring of new DECEs. The successful applicant for this Mid‐Management Level 2 position ($72,952 – $84,920), will be working 40 hours per week, 12 months per year, effective March 4, 2019. This includes school closure periods where the Extended Day programs operate such as winter break and March break. Working hours will vary from 6:45 a.m to 6:15 p.m to support staff questions or emergencies in the Extended Day program.

There may be times when work outside of these hours is required.

Description of Duties:
Directly supervises board operated Extended Day programs to ensure high quality, inclusive care for children ranging in age from junior kindergarten to grade 6 in a manner that supports their growth and development and adheres to the Education Act, the Early Childhood Educators Act, Family Services Act,
Ministry Guidelines for Before‐and‐After School Programs and Waterloo Region District School Board policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
● Project commitments compatible with the organization (service, integrity, respect, innovation and collaboration);
● Take individualized action to maintain a current understanding of policies, procedures, legislation and changes to professional practice as they relate to the field of Early Childhood
Education;
● Recruit and support the hiring process for Designated Early Childhood Educators;
● Support school Principals with Extended Day absence management;
● Respond to inquiries from parents, Principals, Staff and community partners regarding program information and conflict resolution;
● Instruct and train staff in specific work methods and procedures;
● Ensure adequate supports are in place to support all children and families (Safety, Allergy, Medical or Support Plans);
● Communicate with parents and the broader community around the Extended Day program;
● Collaborate with Learning Services, Human Resource Services and our labour partners to plan and deliver professional development opportunities for staff;
● Provide guidance and instruction on food quality, safety and quantity for the program when required;
● Work collaboratively as a member of the Financial Services team to meet department and organizational objectives; and
● Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
● Have a Bachelor level degree specializing in Early Childhood Education or a diploma in Early Childhood Education from a recognized community college;
● Be registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators;
● Have a minimum of 3 years experience working in an early years or school setting;
● Must possess a valid standard First Aid and CPR certificate;
● Provide an acceptable Police Reference Check for vulnerable sector in order to ensure suitability for working with vulnerable persons;
● Possess a valid Ontario Driver’s license;
● Communication and human relations skills in order to advise and supervise staff, provide confidential information to support parents, and participate as an effective team member;
● Demonstrate exemplary knowledge of play‐based learning as defined in the Kindergarten program (2016), How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years and the Ministry Guidelines for Before and After School programs for Extended Day programs;
● Demonstrate knowledge of WRDSB policies and procedures, applicable legislation (e.g., Ministry of Education, College of Early Childhood Educators, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Family Services Act and Privacy Legislation); and
● Demonstrate proficiency with technology and advanced computer applications (Microsoft, Adobe, Google suite of tools).
