About Brockton:
Nestled in the rolling countryside of the Saugeen and Teeswater Rivers, the Municipality of Brockton is a friendly rural community with innovative industry and a vibrant downtown core. About the Position:
The Child Care Supervisor supports the Child Care Manager with the direction, supervision, management and coordination of the Brockton Child Care Centre operations. This position works with the Manager to mentor Centre staff to create a warm, welcoming and inclusive environment to ensure children are provided with optimal learning and development opportunities. This position assists with staff supervision and ensures adherence to applicable legislation and policies and procedures for the Municipality of Brockton.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provides guidance to Registered ECE Teachers, Non-ECE Teachers, parents, and caregivers by providing information, resources, and the support they need to ensure that all children have the best possible start in life.
  • Provides leadership, guidance and mentoring to all childcare staff in a manner that creates an environment for high morale and productivity.
  • Assists in the maintenance of a positive team environment by working cooperatively with other staff, using the appropriate processes for handling problems, helping to motivate and encourage peers, contributing ideas, and assisting others where necessary.
  • Ensures all services provided in the area of food preparation and sanitation regarding meal and snack preparation meet all health and safety and Child Care, Health Unit and Early Years Act requirements.
  • Supervises and conducts ongoing informal and annual formal performance management and evaluations of the staff under their supervision.
  • Implements policies and procedures such as staff/child ratios, behaviour management, program planning, fees, health and safety, etc.
  • Prepares client billings and the County of Bruce invoice, responsible for the collection of fees and prepares bank deposits.
  • Responsible for daily attendance of the entire Centre including safe arrival and departure.
  • Acts as recording secretary for Brockton Child Care Centre Committee.
  • Ensures all Registered ECE teachers at the Centre are meeting the training requirements for College of ECE’s.
  • Ensures all staff meet the required Ministry of Education standards including ensuring Centre employees First Aid/CPR training and immunization records are up-to-date.
  • Prepares Attendance sheets.
  • Provides continuous communication with families in regards to their child's progress, ensuring established individual learning goals and personal developments are achieved.
Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills Required:
  • Must be a Registered Early Childhood Educator in good standing.
  • Post-Secondary Education degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education.
  • Demonstrated advance knowledge of the Emergent Curriculum and ability to mentor/coach co-workers.
  • Minimum of 1 year supervisor/leadership experience.
  • Three to Five years’ experience working in the child care field is an asset.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Ability to be flexible to changing demands while maintaining accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Works cooperatively with team members and staff to ensure necessary workflow and coverage.
  • Knowledge and use of general office equipment including related computer software/hardware.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Good mentoring interpersonal/leadership skills to build and maintain positive relationships with staff, families, and the children services community.
  • Assertive, confident and thrives under pressure.
  • Ability to demonstrate tact and discretion in handling matters of a confidential or politically sensitive nature.
  • Ability to multi-task in a busy/high paced work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work outside normal business hours, as required.
  • Excellent understanding and appreciation for the delivery of high quality child care services.
  • Solid knowledge of all Provincial Acts pertaining to early childhood education, specifically the Child Care & Early Years Act., and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR-C AED Certification.
  • Clean Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).

What we offer you:
  • Rate of pay between $63,609 - $74,402 depending on qualifications and experience.
  • 35 hours per week. Typical hours are Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
