The North Dumfries Preschool Co-operative Inc. was founded in Ayr over 40 years ago. It was created by a group of parents who shared the core belief that parents are a child's first and most important teachers. Our program is licensed by the Ministry of Education Program and serves children ages 18 months to 5 years old divided into age-appropriate classes for toddlers and preschoolers. These children are nurtured and encouraged by their parents who work in the classroom and by our wonderful teachers, helping them to get prepared for the kindergarten years. The North Dumfries Preschool Co-Operative is funded in part by the Region of Waterloo. NDPCI is a family-focused, co-operative Preschool that participates in fundraising events and enjoys being a part of our community.
We are currently looking for an individual to fill a part-time position at the Preschool. The hours of employment are approximately 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday (15 hours a week) with flexibility on start/end time and additional hours as needed.
Tasks include but are not limited to:
  • Tidy/clean/disinfect the environment (toys, surfaces, floors, etc.) during and after the program.
  • Assist Supervisor and Assistant Teacher with daily activities to help promote a safe and nurturing learning environment.
  • Attending to children’s physical needs, which may include diapering, toileting, and eating.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Candidates must have a current Vulnerable Sector Screening Check prior to employment.
  • Willing to complete standard First Aid and CPR - Level C prior to employment.
  • Secondary School diploma or higher.
  • Experience in early childhood education settings is an asset.
  • Demonstrate ability to work as part of a co-operative team.
  • Willing to work both indoors and outdoors during all seasons.
  • Be able to work in a high endurance environment.
Hours and Wage:
$17/hour (plus $2/hour wage enhancement) for approximately 15 hours per week
