Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Assistants to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about nurturing young minds and hearts, supporting children’s development through exploration, inquiry, and play. In alignment with How Does Learning Happen? our RECEs focus on the four foundations—Belonging, Well-Being, Engagement, and Expression—to ensure that each child feels safe, supported, and valued. In this role, you will work closely with RECEs, our Cultural Facilitator and Indigenous Languages Educator to create culturally rich learning experiences that celebrate and incorporate Indigenous knowledge, values, and language. These team members will support both children and educators by guiding the integration of cultural teachings into everyday learning and providing ongoing opportunities for professional learning and personal growth. Partner with the Pedagogical Lead Consultant to integrate these cultural elements with inquiry-based and play-centered practices. • Observe, Document, and Reflect: Use observation and documentation to understand each child’s unique development, interests, and needs. Reflect on these observations to adapt the learning environment and activities to support children’s growth. • Engage with Families and Community: Communicate openly and positively with families, building partnerships that respect each family’s culture, values, and experiences. Participate in center-wide events, gatherings, and cultural celebrations. • Dedicated to continuously enhancing program quality: actively engaging and participating in the Early Years Engage Continuous Quality Improvement process through the Region of Waterloo and other initiatives. POSITION OVERVIEW: Reporting to the Executive Director, the FVPP Coordinator will be responsible for providing programs, services, and support to women* and their children in the rural community who are experiencing or have experienced a range of abuse and violence in their relationships. The FVPP Coordinator will provide risk and safety management, individual and group psychoeducational support based on identified client needs towards increased safety, empowerment, mental wellness and healthy relationships. They will refer clients seeking trauma-informed therapeutic support to the FVPP Counsellor on staff at the agency or externally as appropriate. Who we Are: The Children and Youth Planning Table of Waterloo Region (CYPT) is a community-wide partnership of service providers, researchers, planning bodies, and funders who serve children, youth, and families. We work to improve system coordination, and the well-being of children and youth in the region (in particular, sense of belonging). What we are Seeking To Do: Many assets and supports have been added into the system of child and youth services over the past few years in the name of equity. At the same time, there continues to be gaps and harm in the system. In thinking about how the CYPT collaborative is uniquely positioned, we want to consider existing community input regarding equity, and hear from grassroots and larger organizations, to identify the most impactful ways the CYPT structure can support system-wide equity for children and youth. We are looking to work with a Consultant who can support this endeavor. Clarifying Info: We envision that consultation will be with current CYPT members, and those who may be interested in future membership with the CYPT. Guiding Principles: We value the opportunity this project offers to support the human rights of our community members. With that sprit, we aim for the following principles to guide the work: 1. All the voices that want to be heard will be heard. 2. Space that welcomes curiosity and compassion will be created, while also accepting the discomfort and strong emotions that may emerge. 3. The North Dumfries Preschool Co-operative Inc. was founded in Ayr over 40 years ago. It was created by a group of parents who shared the core belief that parents are a child's first and most important teachers. Our program is licensed by the Ministry of Education Program and serves children ages 18 months to 5 years old divided into age-appropriate classes for toddlers and preschoolers. These children are nurtured and encouraged by their parents who work in the classroom and by our wonderful teachers, helping them to get prepared for the kindergarten years. The North Dumfries Preschool Co-Operative is funded in part by the Region of Waterloo. NDPCI is a family-focused, co-operative Preschool that participates in fundraising events and enjoys being a part of our community.
