General Description of Duties:
- Ensuring the rules and regulations of the Care for Newcomer Children program are followed
- Delivery of a child centered program and preparing nutritious snacks
- Attend professional development workshops as required by the funder
- Communicating regularly with staff and supervisor
- Collaborate with staff to develop and implement age appropriate programming
- Attend and contribute to monthly staff meetings
- Contribute to written reports and documentation
- Complete other related duties as assigned by Program Manager
Minimum Requirements:
- Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) or experience working with children
- Current certificate in Standard CPR/First Aid
- Knowledge of current trends in the field of Early Childhood Education
- Committed to providing quality inclusive childcare programming
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods; and must be able to physically assist children as
- Required (e.g. lifting)
- Demonstrate knowledge of classroom management
- Excellent Communication and teamwork skills
- Minimum Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) of 5544
Desirable Assets:
- Good Standing with the College of ECE’s
- Knowledge and experience working in a LINC program
- Comfortable working in all program areas (e.g. infants, toddlers)
- Fluent in a Second language
- Computer knowledge (Microsoft office, outlook)
- Understanding of “How Does Learning Happen”
Salary Level
- $21.87 (certified) per hour, plus Vacation Pay (rates under review)
- $16.78 (uncertified) per hour, plus Vacation pay (rates under review)
Hours of Work:
- 29 hours per week
- Mon-Thurs: Varies between: 8:15am-3:30pm
- Fridays 9:15-3:00pm
