MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform day to day cleaning
  • Cleaning duties include sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming
  • Pick up debris and empty trash containers and recycling as needed
  • Remove garbage and recycling, keeping work areas clean, dry and free from hazards
  • Cleans/washes/disinfects assigned areas, floors, common areas, sinks, toilets etc.
  • replenish supplies as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous cleaning experience in a similar setting is an asset
  • Conscientious and willing to take initiative
  • Must be able to follow both written and verbal instructions
  • Practice proper operation of equipment to assure safety and avoid damage to equipment
  • Understand and exceed health and safety standards
  • WHMIS training is preferred
  • Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, can-do attitude, and enthusiasm
  • Must be willing to provide First Aid and CPR-C certification as well as Vulnerable Sector Police check

GENERAL PURPOSE
 
In Her Shoes: Youth is an employment program for young people who are experiencing significant barriers to securing employment. In this program, participants receive career management skills, technical training and work experience in our social enterprise store, In Her Shoes YW.
 
This position will successfully deliver our In Her Shoes: Youth employment training program to young women (cis and trans) & gender-diverse people aged 15-30 who are seeking assistance to overcome their employment barriers and build skills towards sustainable financial security. The Job Coach will assist participants to obtain meaningful employment in the local labour market by teaching participants effective job search strategies and performing job development on behalf of the participants.  Additionally, the Job Coach will work with youth participants to develop a broad range of employability and career management skills during their work experience within our social enterprise, inhershoesyw.com and our bricks and mortar store on Frederick St, Kitchener, to build their technical skills and digital literacy.
 
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Support YW Kitchener-Waterloo mission, vision and values
  • Job Development:
    • Conduct ongoing research of and outreach to employers, community resources and programs to develop job placements and opportunities post their certificate training.
    • Assist participants to make successful transitions into their new positions
    • Research and plan for targeted, individualized job placements that meet the needs and qualifications of each individual.
  • Networking:
    • Initiate and foster relationships with various stakeholders, training providers and corporate leaders to assess needs, identify opportunities, develop supports, and track successes.  
    • Actively recruit employers and seeks out job placement opportunities.


 
 
 
  • Assist employers and clients with job maintenance and retention.
  • Develop intentional relationships to identify ongoing employment gaps.
  • Recruitment of Participants:
    • Perform marketing and outreach activities to recruit participants.
    • Perform intakes including needs and risk assessments, and qualification assessments as prescribed by program guidelines.
  • Supporting Participants:
    • Assist the participants to develop and enhance their employment skills through coaching and individualized support.
    • Identify goals and barriers to their success; work with participants to create action plans to achieve their goals.   
    • Assist participants with such matters as job readiness skills, job search strategies, writing résumés and preparing for job interviews.
  • Assessment, Evaluation & Reporting:
    • Evaluate, monitor and document participants’ progress and activities.
    • Provide accurate and timely activity reports to funders.
  • Programming Curriculum:
    • Design and facilitate learning opportunities for youth with barriers to financial security.
    • Adapt instructional strategies and materials according to the needs of the participants and/or the employer partners.         
  • Other duties as assigned
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
  • Must have a valid degree/diploma/certificate/ in Career Development, Job Development, Human Resources, or a combination of related work and academic experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work in a performance-based system with a proven track record of meeting targets and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of instructional methods and experience developing and delivering training content with excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • High level of human relations and negotiation skills to establish and maintain appropriate communication links with participants, partners and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Google Apps, Outlook email, and working knowledge of computer operating systems and online software programs.


 
 
 
  • Ability to think independently, set priorities and resolve problems effectively.
  • Knowledge of the Kitchener-Waterloo labour market and industry trends.
  • Must provide a current Criminal Record Judicial Matters Police check or willingness to obtain at own cost.
  • Must have current Emergency First Aid and CPR certificate or willingness to obtain at own cost.
  • Mental Health First Aid and receiving disclosure training considered an asset.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Generalist supports the Director of Human Resources and will provide support to the HR function including activities related to recruitment and workforce planning, new hire orientation, talent management, employee engagement and well being, health and safety, benefit administration, and human resources information management. They must assist in executing HR initiatives and practices that contribute to an employee-oriented culture. REPORTS TO: Director of Human Resources

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

 Support YW Kitchener-Waterloo mission, vision and values
 Participate in daily employee/labour relations and human resources department administration
 Partner with Director of Human Resources to provide professional consultation in areas related to talent acquisition, talent management, policies/procedures, succession planning, employee relations, employee engagement and retention initiatives
 Collaborate with HR Director and department managers to develop and implement recruitment plans for the delivery of high-quality candidates ranging from entry level to management positions
 Support leaders in the development of job descriptions for new and existing positions and create effective job postings
 Assist managers in Planning and conducting recruitment and selection processes (telephone screening, interviews, contacting references, etc.)
 Perform HR administration i.e. create offer letters, maintain employee files, generate reports etc.
 Manage the employee engagement survey process, assess trends, gaps and outcomes and partner with HR team to create action plan
 Design and implement organizational effectiveness tools and programs to support employee engagement, change management and team effectiveness
 Assist in the Facilitation of the Annual Talent Review/Succession Planning Cycle
 Maintain compliance with federal, provincial, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
 Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
 Work safely, report all workplace hazards and follow all Health and Safety policies and procedures
 Be familiar and adhere to the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Human Rights and Employment Standards Act
 Assist in the Return-To-Work program and Disability claims management activities
 Create a safe and healthy work environment that fosters a positive team culture
 Attend Health and Safety meetings regularly and update records
 Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
 Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must have a valid University degree or College diploma in Human Resources or a related field
• Minimum 2-3 years of Human Resources Generalist or similar work experience
• Must be highly organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
• Solid professionalism and integrity while working as part of the HR and organizational team
• Proven ability to work in a confidential manner, demonstrating appropriate discretion at all times
• Knowledge of key HR related legislation and industry trends
• Proactive problem-solving skills with a strong ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency with MS Office Applications including but not limited to Word, Excel and Outlook
• Must provide a current Police Information Check

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• CHRP or CHRL designation is an asset
