Camp Counsellor (Summer Position)

Seeking fun, vibrant and enthusiastic individuals for the position of camp counsellor to facilitate BBBSCW Summer Day Camp URU for campers 9-12/ years old
​Position Profile
The successful candidate loves working with children and has a desire to make camp a safe, happy and healthy space for youth between the ages of 9-12 years of age. Camp URU counsellors are co-responsible for leading a group of 8-12 campers on a daily basis by role modeling participation in camp activities, ensuring safety, managing behaviours, and being a mentor. Camp URU focuses on leadership, engagement, healthy relationships, conflict resolution, self-esteem, physical and mental wellness, and healthy life choices. Camp URU counsellors are living examples of the content we share with our campers.

Key Responsibilities
● Model good-sportsmanship through interactive, non-competitive participation of camp activities
● Create a positive rapport with all campers and parents/guardians
● Become aware of all campers’ physical, dietary/medical needs
● Provide direct supervision to all campers to ensure safety
● Lead groups from one activity to the next in an orderly manner
● Complete administrative duties
● Other duties as assigned by Camp Coordinator
● Ability to take initiative
● Work in a team environment

Qualifications
● Currently enrolled in a social service program in a college or university
● Previous experience working with children in a camp or educational setting
● Strong communication, organization, leadership and problem-solving skills
● Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team environment
● First Aid and CPR
● Valid driver’s license is an asset

Terms of Employment
● 35 hours/week Full Time Contract position for 8 weeks during the summer
● $15.00/hour
● Reports directly to Camp Coordinator

Description - We are a professional Nanny Agency looking to hire a part-time nanny for a family based in Kitchener. The nanny will take care mostly of a 2-year-old child, Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 12:00 up to June 23; from 9 am to 3 pm till the end of June and from August 1st till September 2nd. The candidate will take care of a 2nd child aged 4 years old till the end of June and in August.
 
Responsibilities include organizing meaningful indoor and outdoor activities designated to stimulate areas of development, and based on the interests of the children.
 
Do you have a formal background in education (RECE, ECE, EA, Teacher, PSW, SSW, etc.)?
 
Do you love looking after children, doing laundry, cooking meals, cleaning, and helping with home management?
 
Do you have experience with children as a nanny, babysitter, mother, or childcare worker?
 
Are you ready for at least six months of commitment?

Lifeguards

​Bingemans is hiring experienced Lifeguards with exceptional customer service skills who will be responsible for the safety of all guests in the waterpark.
What will you be doing?
Responsible for maintaining guest safety in the wave pool as well as all pool areas, demonstrating professional and consistent adherence to all pool safety standards.
Effectively guard all pool guests and maintain a safe environment.
Responsible for maintaining proper positioning, visibility and condition of pool safety and rescue equipment.
Perform daily safety checks of pool area and slide for potential hazards.
Properly document all maintenance duties, pool test results, and emergency procedures.
Adhere to all pool safety standards, including safety procedures for adverse weather conditions.
Execute all water safety and rescue procedures in accordance with current Life Saving Society and Bingemans’ standards.
Participate in all staff training lessons, both the initial and on-going training.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head Guard, or the management.
 
What we're looking for?
Minimum 16 years of age.
National Lifeguard Service (NLS) pool required. NL Waterpark will be provided.
Must have previous guarding experience after NLS award.
Standard First Aid, CPR Level “C” and AED.
Must be a team player with excellent customer service skills.
Must be available to work varied hours including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to work in a busy, outdoor environment during various weather conditions.

summer camp counsellors

Bingemans is seeking outgoing, personable individuals with experience in supervising children to work as Summer Camp Counsellors.
What will you be doing?
 
Foster healthy child development in children attending camp.
Daily supervision for day camp children.
Complete weekly camper calls.
Provide feedback to parents on daily basis.
Assist with meal preparation and cleanup.
Abide by policies and guidelines that are defined in the Staff Handbook and Bingemans’ Day Camp Policies and Procedures.
Assist supervisors in the development and implementation of daily and weekly activities and program specials.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Day Camp Supervisor and/or Coordinator.
 
What we're looking for?
You must be 18 years of age at minimum.
You must have Emergency First Aid and CPR C or higher.
Experience working with large groups of children in a recreational or educational program.
Police Vulnerable Sector Check required.
Must attend High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development training (if not already trained).
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
High energy level is required to keep staff and children motivated.
Ability to handle the stress and the high mental demands of working with a high number of children.
