Region of Waterloo Children’s Services is working on developing a new model for professional learning supports, based on feedback we have received from the community, with the resources available to us.

Full-Day Professional Learning (In person) - Monday, October 19, 2026
We are so excited to share more information about our upcoming Fall Professional Learning Day at Kitchener Auditorium! Doors will open at 8am, with programming starting at 9am. We will spend the morning together and then teams will travel back to their programs for team learning in the afternoon. Here’s a preview of what’s in store:

Simple Interactions with Dr. Junlei Li 
  • Explore how everyday moments can have an extraordinary impact. Dr. Li invites us to notice and build on the small, meaningful interactions that shape children’s experiences. 
​Co-regulation and self-regulation with Dr. Susan Hopkins [EN] & Tricia Mendoza [FR]
  • Learn practical, real-world strategies rooted in brain-body science to support well-being, connection, and regulation in your daily practice. 
Teams will be registered together by supervisors, we are looking forward to seeing you all there!

Half-Day Leaders' Summit (In person) - Tuesday, November 3, 2026 (8:00-12:00pm)
We are excited to share more information about our upcoming Leaders Summit at Bingemans Conference Centre (Embassy Room)! Doors will open at 7:45am for a continental breakfast, with programming beginning at 8:30am and concluding at 12:00pm. This event is open to supervisors, managers, directors, and owners working across the early years and child care sector in the Region of Waterloo. Here's a preview of what's in store:

Workplace Culture and Well-Being with Jennifer Moss
  • Explore how workplace culture can support employee well-being, connection, and engagement. Jennifer Moss will share practical strategies for creating workplace environments where people feel valued, supported, and inspired.
Sustaining Equity and Inclusion in Practice with Gail Hunter & Ce Cil Kim
  • Through interactive discussions and reflections with local EYCC leaders, participants will explore ways to sustain equity and inclusion commitments, support staff learning, strengthen family partnerships, and embed inclusive practices into everyday program experiences.
