Objective: Supervise and assist children, aged 4, in a fun and learning swim environment. Enabled children to become more independent in many aspects of the swim program.
Time/Location: Placements available at all three KidsAbility Sites. Various Morning, Afternoon, and Evening shifts available.
Waterloo: 500 Hallmark Dr.
Cambridge: 250 Hespeler Rd.
Commitment: Various time/duration slots available: 1.5 – 2 hours per week. Dedication to be present or contact supervising staff in event of absence.
Duties/ Responsibilities: Respect therapy and educational goals. Assist your child in preparing for swimming when the help is needed and allow the child independence when requested to do so. Have fun with the child in the pool and ensure safety is always adhered to. Rotate with other volunteers on deck if needed. Be aware of and respect all pool rules. Other specific information to be provided upon placement
Qualifications: Minimum age 14
Previous experience working with individuals with speech,
physical or developmental challenges beneficial. Able to take direction and work independently. Understanding and respect of confidentiality. Comfortable in a therapeutic pool environment.
