Job Title:  Education Advisor
Location: Creative Beginnings Childcare Centres
Type: Regular full-time
Reports to: Executive Director
 
Direct Reports: None
The Education Advisor will support the Executive Director in the operation of Creative Beginnings Childcare Centres by developing exceptional programming and best practices in early learning, resulting in quality experiences for our children and families.  The Education Advisor will use effective adult learning principles to support site supervisors and program staff through coaching, mentoring, and training.  He/she will also take an active role in advising the Executive Director on all matters relating to Ministry of Education regulations and effective processes and practices.  The Education Advisor may be asked to participate on various committees, both internal and external.  He/she will be an experienced Early Childhood Educator, possess an expert-level knowledge of the CCEYA and HDLH pedagogy, demonstrate a passion for engaging and coaching adult learners, and have exceptional communication and people skills with the ability to effectively problem solve and tactfully communicate with all stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities  
·       Remain up-to-date with developments in early learning pedagogy, including an expert-level knowledge of HDLH; provide recommendations to the Executive Director regarding programming that will enhance classroom experiences for our children
·       Review Ministry of Education policies and procedures and assist the Executive Director with establishing consistent and effective processes across all Creative Beginnings Centres
·       Assist the Executive Director by monitoring our Program Statement, Parent Handbook, and other educational policies to ensure that they adhere to regulations and are aligned with CBCC’s mission, vision, and values
·       Provide on-going coaching, mentoring, and training to the Site Supervisors and staff regarding best practices in quality early learning programming and practices
·       Plan and lead engaging monthly professional development activities for staff
·       Act as a resource to Site Supervisors, program staff, and parents regarding inclusive education practices
·       Develop age-appropriate curriculum for the Youth Development Programs
·       Recommend programming to enrich the Summer Camp experience
·       Provide support to site supervisors for serious occurrence investigations, parental concerns, and CCEYA compliance, ensuring proper protocols are adhered to
·       Coordinate and write educational articles for Creative Beginnings newsletters, website, and other promotional materials
·       Under the direction of the Executive Director, lead the planning and implementation of special events
·       Represent Creative Beginnings in a professional manner both internally and externally
·       Provide qualitative and quantitative data to the Executive Director as required to support decision making
·       Assist the Executive Director with other duties, as required

·       ECE Diploma and membership in the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators
·       Thorough knowledge of the CCEYA and demonstrated expertise in early learning and HDLH pedagogy
·       Experience presenting to large groups and facilitating professional development activities
·       Passion for continued life-long learning
·       Exceptional people skills with strong coaching and mentoring abilities
·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills
·       Experience resolving complex problems, and the ability to tactfully negotiate opposing view points in a professional manner
·       Minimum 3 years in a supervisory position at a licensed daycare is preferred
·       Commitment to upholding the vision, mission, and values of CBCC
·       Standard First Aid and CPR (level C)
·       Clear Vulnerable Sector check
Typical working hours will be Monday to Friday during operating hours; however, occasional evening and weekend work may be required in order to attend staff meetings, special events, or community activities.  The ability to travel to all Creative Beginnings sites will be required.
