POSITION: Supervisor, Child Care Centre
REPORTS TO: General Manger via Director of Operations, Child Care
HOURS: Full Time (evenings & weekends as required)
SALARY: $21.43 per hour
START DATE: Immediate
FUNCTION: Responsible for delivering quality care to children and families through the coaching and development of centre staff. Adhere to the Day Nurseries Act and the YMCA policies.
-Follow the guidelines and regulations of the Day Nurseries Act and YMCA Policies and Procedures
-Oversee the preparation and implementation of program plans
-Ensure a wide variety of developmentally appropriate activities are provided including; social, creative, emotional, cognitive and physical
-Assume responsibility for hiring, orientation and training of centre staff, volunteers and students
-Assume responsibility for supervising and evaluating staff performance
-Assume responsibility for establishing clearly defined and effective action plans for staff including short and long term goals
-Maintain direct involvement in the preparation of annual financial plan
-Implement and monitor the established annual financial plan for the centre to ensure the centre is achieving targets (Financial, Enrolment, Staffing ratios). Identify variances and areas of concern
-Maintain open lines of communication with staff, parents and external site specific contacts
-Maintain parent and child relationships on a daily basis and provide ongoing parent education and information exchange
-Facilitate appropriate and timely solutions when conflict arises
-Guide staff in the completion of developmental profiles and parent-teacher interviews
-Assume responsibility for overseeing the ordering of centre supplies, including food
-Assume responsibility for maintaining all program forms and files in accordance with the Day Nurseries Act
-Assume Responsibility for maintaining positive public relations
-Attend professional development workshops, organizational meetings
-Conduct monthly centre staff meetings
-Attend workshops, trainings, conferences and staff meetings as required
-Assume other duties as assigned
-Completion of Community College ECE diploma or equivalent
-3 - 4 years experience in a licensed child care setting
-CECE Membership required for qualified ECE candidates
-Thorough knowledge of the Day Nurseries Act and related requirements
-CPR and First Aid certification
-Excellent oral and written communication skills
-Acceptable Police Check
