The Supervisor assumes responsibility for the day to day operations of the centre; oversees the supervision of staff and programming, working with families and children, connecting with the community, coordinating scheduling and assuming administrative responsibilities related to the day to day operations.
Qualifications
- ECE designation and a member in good standing of the College of Early Childhood Educators –or- “otherwise approved” designation by the Ministry of Education **REQUIRED**
- A minimum of 3 years teaching experience in an early childhood environment
- Knowledge/experience with the Montessori pedagogy is an asset
- Previous leadership experience is an asset
- Extensive knowledge of the CCEYA
- Demonstrates leadership skills, including professionalism and integrity; the ability to coach, mentor, and inspire others; and strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent public relations skills, able to develop positive relationships with parents and co-workers
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Solid understanding of child development
- Ability to work in stressful situations with the ability to respond to changes and fluctuating demands with shifting deadlines
- Experience and understanding of working effectively in a diverse environment
- Ability to set priorities and complete assigned duties with minimal supervision
- Supervisor or managerial experience an asset
- Responsible for ensuring that the centre meets all legal requirements, including licensing regulations
- Provide support to staff in developing the highest quality curriculum and standards of care
- Provide high standards and a safe, healthy and caring environment for the children
- Promote a positive atmosphere surrounding team efforts and high standards of customer service
- Responsible for updating policies and procedures required by the Ministry of Education and Public Health
- Due to the supervisory nature of this position, the successful candidate may occasionally be required to work a longer shift or after hours
- Administer monthly staff meetings
- Standard First Aid and CPR certification
- A clear Vulnerable Sector police check
