Assistant Supervisor

SERVICE AREA: Community Services
POSITION: Assistant Supervisor, Child Care
LOCATION: Kitchener-Waterloo
REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Child Care
HOURS:  Full time permanent
SALARY: $18.19 per hour
START DATE: Immediate

FUNCTION:  Support the Supervisor to ensure the delivery of a quality program to children and families through adherence to the Child Care and Early Years Act 2014 (CCEYA), Curriculum, and Program model expectations and follow YMCA policies and procedures.  Act as primary contact in the absence of the Supervisor.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Follow the guidelines/expectations of the CCEYA , Extended Day and Youth Development Programs as defined by the school board and  YMCA Policy and Procedures
-Act as primary contact in the absence of the Supervisor
-Act as primary lead for curriculum group designates
-Responsible for monthly processing of fees and updating waiting lists
-Responsible for inspections – playgrounds, health and safety,  CCEYA, and Curriculum reviews
-Assist in hiring, orientation and training of staff teams
-Assist in evaluation of staff performance and establishing action plans for staff and program
-Ensure a safe environment
-Ensure YMCA program standards, policies and procedures are maintained
-Monitor program statistics and registration. Attend workshops, trainings, conferences and staff meetings as required
-Assume other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
-Completion of Community College degree/diploma ECE or equivalent
-2 - 3 years of relevant supervisory experience, 3-6 months experience in using Child Care data management systems is preferred                                                            
-RECE Membership required for qualified ECE candidates
-Familiar with the Day Nurseries Act
-CPR and First Aid certification
-Excellent oral and written communication skills
-Vehicle required to travel to site locations
-Acceptable Vulnerable Sector Check
