Assistant Supervisor, Child Development Centres

Vacancy Type: Administration-Full-time
Salary Range: $54,341-$67,926

Overview of the Position:
We require a qualified individual to join the department management team to handle the day-to-day operations of the
outlying childcare centres operated as part of the Early
Childhood Education Diploma Program.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with department management team and
    program faculty to develop and implement best practices
  • Maintain legislative and licensing regulations in accordance with the Day Nurseries Act and ensure the Board located centres are in compliance
  • Ensure corrective actions identified by the Ministry are
    acted upon quickly and current infection control methods are used with the Board located centres and Community Health directions are adhered to
  • Ensure staff are aware of and trained on the Occupational
    Health and Safety Act and that a safe workplace is maintained
  • Model and encourage staff to use effective communication
    skills
  • Facilitate communication between the Board operated child development centres,Waterloo School Board and Conestoga
  • Engage staff to work cooperatively as a team to stay current in practices related to early learning and childcare, ECE course material
  • Meet with parents of Board located child development centres to explain the direction of the department, share information, and problem-solve
  • Ensure appropriate staffing needs are met
  • Orient new employees to the childcare lab schools, ECE
    department and Conestoga
  • Monitor ongoing costs within the centre

Qualifications:
 
  • Two year diploma - ECE
  • Registered in good standing with College of Early Childhood Educators
  • Current First Aid and CPR
  • Three years of experience in licensed child care
  • Thorough knowledge of the Day Nurseries Act and evidence informed practices in early learning and child care
  • Good organizational, communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Computer literate
  • Demonstrated ability to lead groups of
    people
