invites applications for the temporary, full-time position of:
HOMELESSNESS OUTREACH COORDINATOR(Non-union Position)
The Homelessness Outreach Coordinator establishes and maintains relationships with women, trans women and families experiencing persistent homelessness and who may have significant mental health issues, addictions or trauma, to promote optimal mental health and well-being by providing referral, coordination, monitoring and delivery of services and to support their transition to housing stability.
Responsibilities:
- Assess needs and develop personal service plans with that are strength based, culturally responsive, individually centered, respecting their needs and preferences
- Assist in the development, implementation and review of personal goals with an emphasis on empowerment, problem resolution and improving copy strategies that promote optimal mental health and well-being
- Provide support in the areas of life skills including housing and employment search plans, and education plans through individual counselling and facilitating appropriate support groups and referrals
- Work with families/community partners to ensure a coordinated approach to services and treatment
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of an undergraduate degree in Social Services or equivalent human services education and a minimum of three years’ work experience with individuals in a mental health/addictions setting preferred.
- Masters in Social Work would be an asset.
- Conceptual and theoretical knowledge of strength based mental health approaches, addictions, trauma, violence against women, women in conflict with the law, youth and adolescents, crisis and suicide intervention
- Proven skills in case management, support, counseling, conflict resolution, crisis intervention and suicide prevention and de-escalation skills
- Demonstrated skill in the areas of program development, training and supervision of staff, budgeting, expenditure and revenue control
- The position requires a tolerance of ambiguity and the ability to be able to change tasks or directions with ease, make back up plans, and adapt ways of providing support to the needs of diverse individuals
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office
- First Aid and CPR Level C Certification
- Overdose Prevention Training
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record

Salary Range: $46,889 - $55,163
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (days, one evening per week, on-call duties)
