HOURS: Fixed term until September 2016
SALARY: $11.25/hour
START DATE: June 2016
FUNCTION: To provide youth between the ages of 12 to 16 years, the opportunity to develop social and cognitive skills through value based programming.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate daily delivery of leadership camp program.
- Assist with the set up for the daily activities
- Share in the planning, development and implementation of programs, activities following YMCA objectives
- Assist with the supervision of all campers and guide and redirect children away from conflict
- Role model leadership qualities for peers and campers.
- Provide feedback on program for continuous improvement.
- Communicating and problem solving with campers and families.
- Ensure that all daily procedures and camp policies are adhered to
- Maintain confidentiality of parents, children and staff
- Demonstrate energy, dedication and enthusiasm
- Thrive in an atmosphere of change and ambiguity
- Work as a member of a team
- Model commitment to service excellence and quality
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C
- Summer camp (day or residential) leadership experience
- Post-secondary studies in Recreation / Education an asset
- Well developed organization and time management skills
- Clear Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Persons Screening
- Must be at least 16 years of age and have previous experience with program planning and utilizing resources
