Job Summary: Daily supervision of an assigned group of children and to participate in the weekly program development and implementation.
Job Duties:
• To foster healthy child development in children attending camp
• Greet Children and parents
• Ensure child safety while at camp
• Involve children in a variety of activities
• Participate and supervise children during all activities and during times of transition
• Competent and complete daily supervision for day camp children at all times
• Assist supervisors in the development and implementation of daily and weekly activities and program specials
• Complete weekly camper calls
• Provide feedback to parents on a daily basis
• Assist with meal preparation and cleanup
• Mentor Counselors-In-Training (CITs)
• Abide by policies and guidelines that are defined in the Staff Handbook and Bingemans’ Day Camp Policies and Procedures
• Comply with relevant health and safety laws as they apply under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Regulations and the WHMIS Regulations
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Day Camp Supervisor and/or Coordinator

Working Conditions:
• Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday - July 2 – August 30, 2018
• Start Time: Between 7:30am and 8:30am
• End Time: Counselors are required to continue working until the Supervisor/Coordinator decides (between 4:30pm and 5:30pm)
• Indoor and outdoor environment, Waterpark
• Flexibility: We have Day Camp, Sports Camp, Art Camp, Chef Camp, Paintball Camp, Eco Camp, Camp Couture, Bowling Camp Minecraft Camp and Canoeing Camp this year. Be enthusiastic and enjoy whatever camp you are involved in.
Job Specifications: Education:
• currently enrolled in High School or a Post-Secondary program at College or University
• Emergency First Aid and CPR C or higher
• WHMIS
• High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development training required
Experience:
• Experience in program delivery for children preferred
• Previous Day Camp Counselor experience preferred
Other Requirements:
• Clearance certificate/Police Record Check (criminal background check)
• Must be willing to attend High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development training if not already trained
• Must be 18 years of age at minimum
• Proven ability to implement programs
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge on special needs/behavioral children
Physical Demands:
• High energy level required to keep staff and children motivated
• Ability to walk around the park and participate in activities with campers
• Ability to work in all weather conditions
• Must be able to swim
Mental Demands:
• Alertness to monitor the safety of the children at all times
• Self-motivation is a must
• Ability to handle the stress and the high mental demands of working with a high number of children
