Jacob Hespeler Child Care Centres is hiring a Full Time Bookkeeper position starting January 2019 or sooner.
 
Rate: $23.15 plus eligible benefits. 35 hours per week.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in Managing Jacob Hespeler Child Care Centres Everyday Accounting and Finance Requirements
  • The Ability to Communicate Clearly and Professionally
  • Skilled at Multi-Tasking
  • Excellent Organizational Skills. Maintain an Orderly and Accurate Filing System
  • Confidential, Reliable and Committed to Consistently Meeting Deadlines
  • Balance and Maintain Accurate Ledgers as well as Match Purchase Orders with Invoices
  • Assist in Maintaining the Annual Budget for the Centres and Organization as a Whole
  • Develop Clear and Accurate Monthly, Quarterly and Yearly Financial Statements
  • Assemble Accurate Information for External Auditors
  • Preparing and Filing HST and GST as Required by Provincial and Federal Governments
  • Process Payroll as Scheduled Utilizing Ceridian. Managing Payroll Benefits and Calculations.
  • Inputting Monthly Pre-Authorized Debits from Parent Fees
  • Provide Clerical and Administrative Support to Management as Requested
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications:
  • Completion of one or more of the following: a Business Payroll and Bookkeeping Program at an Accredited College, Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Related Field
  • Priority Will be Given to Candidates Registered with the Canadian Bookkeeper Association and Members of the Canadian Institute of Bookkeeping
  • A Minimum of Two Years Experience Working in Accounts Payable and Receivable, General Ledger, Payroll and Payroll Reports
  • Strong Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and QuickBooks is Mandatory
  • Extensive Experience with Accurate Data Entry and Organized and Confidential Record Keeping
  • Experience in all Services Related to Payroll (Ceridian, RRSP Contributions, Manulife Benefits, Vacation Pay and Sick Pay Calculations)
  • Strong Understanding of Business and Income Tax Worksheets and Computations

Temporary full-time position of:
TENANT SUPPORT WORKER
until March 31, 2019

RESPONSIBILITIES
As a member of a multi-disciplinary staff team, you will provide assistance to tenants living in YW Supportive Housing to support their independent living and maintain their housing.
Provide immediate support to tenants in conflict following an established Conflict Resolution Program and respond to requests for support and crisis intervention.
Establish positive relationships with tenants and participate in the creation of a stable, secure environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of the impact of trauma and abuse and the impact of poverty and homelessness on individuals of all ages, normally obtained through the completion of a 2-year college program in Social Services and 2 years work experience in a residential or supportive housing environment. 
  • Knowledge in harm reduction philosophies and techniques, as well as crisis and suicide intervention skills
  • Experience working within the parameters of a Conflict Resolution Program.
  • Understanding of current legislation pertaining to housing, advocacy and tenant/landlord rights, usually obtained through a general knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act.
  • Ability to think independently, set priorities and resolve problems effectively and efficiently.
  • Valid certifications in Standard First Aid, CPR Level C, and Overdose prevention training.

RATE OF PAY: $21.428 per hour, with an additional 2% in lieu of benefits
HOURS:         Total 63 hours per pay period.  (Rotation schedule – 36 hours one week and 27 hours the alternate
 week).  3-4 days per week from 2:00 pm to 11:00 pm.  Every other weekend off.

CASUAL YOUTH DEVELOPMENT WORKER

DUTIES:
·         To implement engaging and developmentally appropriate activities for 4 - 12 year olds which allow for choice, creativity, and independence
·         To take responsibility for the health and safety of the children in your care
·         To follow daily schedules and take responsibility for clean up and organization of supplies
·         To act as a positive role model for the children
·         To work as part of a team of Youth Development Workers
·         Maintaining effective communication with staff, parents, facility staff and manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
·         Registered Early Childhood Educator or related degree such as Recreation and Leisure, Child and Youth Worker (subject to approval by the Ministry of Education)
·         Minimum one year experience with School Age children, preferably in a childcare, education or recreation setting
·         Understanding of the Child Care and Early Years Act and familiarity with the use of assessment tools such as ECERS, ITERS, SACERS, High Five
·         Enthusiasm, initiative and a working knowledge of child development
·         Proven ability to work as an effective team member
·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification
