YW Kitchener- Waterloo WEEKEND OVERNIGHT ON-CALL SHIFT COVERAGE EMERGENCY SHELTER WORKER (unionized position)

The on-call shift coverage Emergency Shelter Worker will be on-call 1 weekend in every 5 weekends.  They will be required to cover an ESW shift in the event that no coverage can be found.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
A feminist understanding of women abuse and the dynamics of homelessness usually obtained through the completion of a degree in the social sciences.  Preference will be given to those familiar with the welfare system and those who have experience in a shelter setting. Crisis, suicide intervention, and an ability to successfully resolve conflict are required skills.  Valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification required.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a member of a multi disciplinary staff team, you will offer ongoing support to meet the housing, financial, and life support needs of women in residence; answer telephone inquiries regarding emergency housing; completes  intakes and intake related tasks; keep accurate records of medication held for residents; and resolve conflicts between residents.  Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

WAGE: $20.7276 per hour, with an additional 2% in lieu of benefits
 
HOURS:  3 hours pay per day for being on call 1 weekend in 5 (Saturday and Sunday overnight)
If called in to work, 3 hours on call pay will become part of the regular pay for the shift.

The Small Business Development Instructor will develop, deliver and coordinate an eight week business and self-employment training program, as well as small enterprise skills training workshops to low-income women facing barriers to employment and with limited employment experience, and to those re-entering the workforce.
 
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of financial management, business development, marketing, sales and customer service normally acquired through the attainment of a degree in Business or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years relevant work experience.  Experience running own business would be an asset.
  • 1-3 years’ experience delivering skill-based training to youth and/or adults.
  • Ability to actively manage the learning environment and share subject matter expertise and experience with participants.
  • Knowledge of instructional methods and experience developing and delivering instructor led training curriculums and content, including guides, training tools and/or other support materials.
  • Proficiency in the use of a personal computer and knowledge of relevant software programs including Microsoft Office, and content management platforms.
  • Proficiency in the use of social media platforms for the purposes of marketing and building a customer base.
  • Ability to think independently, set priorities and resolve problems effectively and efficiently.
  • Qualified candidates will have excellent teaching, instructing and mentoring skills with a history of actively engaging in professional associations and networking in the field.

Hourly Rate:          $24.65
Hours:                  24.5 hrs/week (Monday- 10 am-4:00 pm, Tues-Thursday- 10 am-2:30 pm, Friday-10 am-3:00 pm)

As a cleaner you would be responsible for day to day cleaning at a childcare centre.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous cleaning employment experience
  • Conscientious and willing to take initiative
  • Must be able to follow both written and verbal instructions
  • Practice proper operation of equipment to assure safety and avoid damage to equipment
  • Understand and exceed health and safety standards
  • WHMIS training is preferred
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification
  • Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm
