QUALIFICATIONS
A feminist understanding of women abuse and the dynamics of homelessness usually obtained through the completion of a degree in the social sciences.  Preference will be given to those familiar with the welfare system and those who have experience in a shelter setting. Crisis, suicide intervention, and an ability to successfully resolve conflict are required skills.  Valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification required.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a member of a multi disciplinary staff team, you will offer ongoing support to meet the housing, financial, and life support needs of women in residence; answer telephone inquiries regarding emergency housing; completes  intakes and intake related tasks; keep accurate records of medication held for residents; and resolve conflicts between residents.  Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

WAGE: $20.7276 per hour, with an additional 2% in lieu of benefits
HOURS: Casual (must be available to work a minimum of 4 shifts per month: including weekends, and overnights)

Staff Accountant 180-2017 
LOCATION: Kitchener-Waterloo Administration Office SALARY: TBD
HOURS: Full Time START DATE: Immediate
REPORTS TO: General Manager, Finance & Accounting
This position has been pre-approved by the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario. The successful candidate will obtain their CPA practical experience requirement while working in this role.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounting Functions
 Month-end process: processing of accruals and other month-end entries, posting month end transactions from the sub-systems to the general ledger.
 Preparing and monitoring balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly or quarterly basis.
 Support the cash cycle – initiating EFT’s, recording and analyzing bank transactions, reconcile the bank accounts and providing input on cash flow forecasts on a monthly basis.
 Monitor transactions for consistent implementation and application Financial Policies and Procedures. Updating and/or creating documentation on Financial processes.
 Assist in the preparation of audit working papers for interim and year-end financial statement audits, and any other audits initiated by Funders or tax authorities as required.
 Assist other department managers with accounting related queries and issues (including government reporting issues), this includes investigating transactions within the Unison system as required.
 Preparing invoices for various departments as required.
 Accounts Payable: Input and post invoices, review and correct invoices for payment, and prepare electronic funds transfers or cheques for disbursement.
 Perform financial and business analysis to support monthly and annual reporting.
 Assist with annual budget preparation including providing any analysis such as labour / benefits ratios to facilitate operations managers with completing their budget.
 Support the annual insurance renewal process and help implement policies required to address any gaps identified within the enterprise risk model.
 Review and support the Association’s system set up for HST ensuring compliance with tax legislation.
 Provide support to various projects that may arise and produce internal management reports/analysis as may be required (assisting GM Finance & Accounting as needed).
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 Completion of CPA course curriculum.
 1-2 years of experience in an Accounting related function.
 Knowledge of Accounting Software, Oracle based software, intermediate Excel skills and Microsoft Office an asset.
 Close attention to detail and accuracy of work is required.
 Customer service attitude.
 Acceptable Police Check.
