Early Years Program Facilitator – Team Lead

Hours: Fixed Term (1 year) - Part Time variable hours (evenings and weekends required) 
SALARY: 16.07 per hour
START DATE: September 2013
REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Ontario Early Years
LOCATION: Kitchener-Waterloo YMCA

FUNCTION:
Create a stimulating, safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow, while supporting
families. Adhere to the Days Nursery Act and YMCA policies and procedures. Provide support and assistance to the OEYC Supervisor on the daily operations of the centre. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Create an environment that is safe, clean and
    welcoming
  • Provide materials for children that will give them the
    opportunity to learn, be successful and grow as individuals
  • Assume responsibility for communicating with parents, on site partners, and agencies
  • Work with team members to prepare a quality program that
    meets appropriate developmental needs of the children
  • Complete program plans as per curriculum
    requirements
  • Ensure that a diversified program is developed with
    established routines that supports and nurtures the development of the child 
  • Set up program environment for children that is welcoming
    with various age appropriate toys and activities 
  • Maintain open lines of communication with all staff, parents
    and external contacts
  • Maintain parent and child relationships on a daily basis and provide ongoing parent education and information
  • Assume responsibility for daily administration, including
    documentation of centre occurrences, attendance and curriculum projects as required
  • Assist in the orientation of parents
  • Provide positive child guidance
  • Communicate with Supervisor when support/guidance is required for difficult situations regarding the children
  • Attend professional development workshops, association
    meetings, and centre staff meetings
  • Act as the primary contact in the event of an emergency/issue/concern in the absence of the OEYC Supervisor
  • Assist in calculating, processing and coding fees and
    receipts, update waiting lists, create monthly statistical reports and monthly playground inspections and schedule staff
  • Assist with hiring, orientation and training of centre staff
    and volunteers
  • Assist with evaluating staff performance and establishing
    action plans for staff and centre
  • Attend workshops, trainings, conferences and staff meetings as required
  • Assume other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Completion of Community College ECE diploma or equivalent 
  • 2 - 3 years’ experience in an OEYC or licensed child care
    setting preferred   
  • CECE Membership required for qualified ECE
    candidates
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Familiar with the Day Nurseries Act
  • Acceptable Police Check

DUTIES: (would include but not be limited to)
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of a stimulating, developmentally appropriate program for children and their families
  • To take an active role as part of the Centre’s professional child care team
  • To provide a warm and nurturing environment for children and families
  • To maintain effective communication with staff, parents and coordinator
  • To ensure the health and safety of the children 
  • To act as a positive role model for the children

 QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education would be an asset
  • CPR and First Aid Training
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working with children in a licensed childcare setting
  • Proven ability to work as an effective team member

Get Set Learn Afterschool Facilitators - Parent and School Aged Groups (2 Positions)

Project READ is delivering a Get Set Learn Afterschool Program to Grandparents who are raising their grandchildren at Cambridge Self Help Food Bank this fall (Oct to Dec) on Wednesday evenings (5:30 – 7:30 pm). We need two Group Facilitators – one for the Parents and one for the School aged children's group (Grades 1 – 3). We have a curriculum package and supports for the Facilitators, who would be part of the facilitation team – Parent Facilitator, Preschool Programmers, Program Coordinator and WLU Researchers.

Please find attached an overview of the program and the two job descriptions. This is a fee-for-service contract. Experience in adult and children's literacy development and group facilitation is required. Familiarity and sensitivity to the issues facing families on limited incomes is preferred.

About the Position:
Kinder Kids is currently hiring teachers for our schools in Osaka (Japan) for March 2014, as the school year begins in April. Students are between 18 months and 6 years old. Teachers work in a partnership with an English-speaking Japanese teacher in the classroom. It is a wonderful opportunity to work abroad. Position: Supervisors(s) Of Early Learning Programs (Full Time) New Model of Service for Early Learning in the Waterloo Region Starting in January 2014

Hours: 40 hours/week

Qualifications:
The successful candidate(s) will possess an ECE Diploma/ Degree & Resource Consulting/Teaching qualifications(equivalencies will beconsidered), progressive experience working with children with special needs, at least 2 years of supervisory experience in a related field, as well as solid leadership, communication, problem-solving, organization, team-building, and scheduling skills. Functional computer skills, a valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation are also required.

Job Description:
Reporting to the Manager of Early Learning, Child Care
and Family Resources, the Supervisor(s) will provide leadership and supervision to a team of Resource Consultants and Enhanced ECE staff under a new model of service starting in January 2014 for children with any special need concern. The incumbent(s) will facilitate the inclusion of all children within licensed day care and home care environments.
