THE YMCAs OF CAMBRIDGE & KITCHENER-WATERLOOJOB OPPORTUNITY 
Quality and Training Specialist
JP 89-2016

LOCATION:      
Kitchener-Waterloo and Cambridge
HOURS:             Full Time (day, afternoon, evening & weekends
as necessary)
SALARY:                         $21.97/hour
START DATE:                Immediate

FUNCTION: The incumbent is responsible to provide leadership, guidance and support to staff and volunteers working with children and families, ensuring the delivery of high quality programs and age appropriate care in accordance with legislative requirements, YMCA Best Practices (such as Health Determinants, Developmental Assets, Cultural and Environmental Competencies), Playing to Learn and Place to Connect curriculum and Youth Development programs.  Note:  Scope includes Cambridge and Kitchener-Waterloo. 
 
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • To develop, implement and maintain a plan to meet and exceed quality requirements within YMCA Best Practices and legislative requirements (such as CCEYA, Public Health, Fire, and Third Party Inspections)
  • Responsible for providing leadership in planning, coordinating and delivering training opportunities for staff that supports their professional development and program goals, ensuring clear objectives are outlined and outcomes are measurable
  • Responsible for providing leadership and support for the implementation and delivery of the YMCA Playing to Learn, Place to Connect and How Does Learning Happen(?),  curriculum principles for licensed child care, and youth development programs
  • To assist in the development of program materials and other relevant resource materials for quality enhancement of programs including but not limited to trainings, workshops, handouts, forms, evaluations, and web site
  • Lead and complete the Quality Initiatives submission on behalf of the YMCAs of Cambridge & Kitchener-Waterloo
  • Responsible for providing leadership and guidance to staff in daily operational issues such as parent relations, staff communications, conflict resolution, available resources, and program alignment with YMCA outcomes, expectations and practices
  • Responsible for providing support to the Director, General Manager and Vice President for special projects and initiatives
  • Responsible for leadership, supervision, design and delivery of Child Care Leadership Program
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • University Degree in Child Development or related field
  • Early Childhood Education Diploma an asset.
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Certification in Adult Learning, Training the Trainer Certification preferred.
  • Driver’s License, a clear drivers extract and access to reliable transportation is required (travel <20% monthly)
  • Acceptable Police Check for Vulnerable Sector  or willingness to obtain at own cost
