YW Kitchener Waterloo: TENANT SUPPORT WORKER  Permanent part-time (Unionized)

RESPONSIBILITIES
As a member of a multi-disciplinary staff team, you will provide assistance to tenants living in YW Supportive Housing to support their independent living and maintain their housing.
Provide immediate support to tenants in conflict following an established Conflict Resolution Program and respond to requests for support and crisis intervention.
Establish positive relationships with tenants and participate in the creation of a stable, secure environment.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of the impact of trauma and abuse and the impact of poverty and homelessness on individuals of all ages, normally obtained through the completion of a 2-year college program in Social Services and 2 years work experience in a residential or supportive housing environment. 
  • Knowledge in harm reduction philosophies and techniques, as well as crisis and suicide intervention skills
  • Experience working within the parameters of a Conflict Resolution Program.
  • Understanding of current legislation pertaining to housing, advocacy and tenant/landlord rights, usually obtained through a general knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act.
  • Ability to think independently, set priorities and resolve problems effectively and efficiently.
  • Valid certifications in Standard First Aid, CPR Level C, and Overdose prevention training.

RATE OF PAY: $21.1776 per hour, with an additional 2% in lieu of benefits
HOURS:  Overnights Friday, Saturday and Sunday midnight to 8 am

YWCA Cambridge: Girls’ Program Facilitator

About
The W: a Collective Space for Women and Girls, operated through YWCA Cambridge is a unique space that provides safe, free, participant-led programming for women, girls and non-binary individuals. This unique space also provides high-quality, accessible Summer Camp programming for youth ages 8-13.
Status
Contract (beginning June 25, 2018) 30hrs/wk, 8 weeks
Description
Working in collaboration with The W Programming staff, the successful candidate will display passion, energy and creativity for working with girls. The Girls’ Programming Facilitator will be responsible for planning, facilitating and evaluating three weeks of camps at the W.
Responsibilities
  • Research, plan and facilitate girls-only summer camps (3 weeks), including off-site trips
  • Facilitate evaluation (formal and informal) and maintain program statistics
  • Document and complete reporting regarding summer camp programming, including statistics
  • Organize and maintain programming space prior to, throughout and following programming
  • Liaise and network with community partners
Skills & Qualifications
  • Capable of working in highly collaborative team environment
  • Clear and assertive communication skills
  • Creative problem solving skills
  • Strong time management skills; self-motivated
  • Experience planning and facilitating youth recreation programming
  • Experience working in gender-specific programming an asset
  • Experience with both formal and informal evaluation techniques
  • First Aid Certification
  • Vulnerable Sectors Record Check
  • Some post-secondary in a  related field
  • Must be returning student in September

YW Kitchener Waterloo WEEKEND OVERNIGHT ON-CALL SHIFT COVERAGEEMERGENCY SHELTER WORKER (unionized position)

The on-call shift coverage Emergency Shelter Worker will be on-call 1 weekend in every 5 weekends.  They will be required to cover an ESW shift in the event that no coverage can be found.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
A feminist understanding of women abuse and the dynamics of homelessness usually obtained through the completion of a degree in the social sciences.  Preference will be given to those familiar with the welfare system and those who have experience in a shelter setting. Crisis, suicide intervention, and an ability to successfully resolve conflict are required skills.  Valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification required.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a member of a multi-disciplinary staff team, you will offer ongoing support to meet the housing, financial, and life support needs of women in residence; answer telephone inquiries regarding emergency housing; completes  intakes and intake related tasks; keep accurate records of medication held for residents; and resolve conflicts between residents.  Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

WAGE: $21.1776 per hour, with an additional 2% in lieu of benefits
 
HOURS: 3 hours pay per day for being on call 1 weekend in 5 (Saturday and Sunday overnight)  If called in to work, 3 hours on call pay will become part of the regular pay for the shift.

YW Kitchener-Waterloo is a multi-service charitable organization with over 220 employees. It provides programs and services in the areas of early learning and childcare, homelessness and housing, youth development and summer camp.
 
Responsibilities
  • Process Bi-weekly payroll, maintain personnel records
  • Prepare remittances and reconcile payroll deductions such as union dues, pension, ROE’s.
  • End to End processing of company's payrolls including T4s, annual filings with government agencies.
  • Generate requested payroll reports
  • Prepare reconciliations for payroll accounts to general ledger
  • Responsible for petty cash, Bank Reconciliation, back up for Accounts Payable
  • Provide support and assistance as required to other finance functions
 
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years full cycle payroll experience
  • Post-secondary education, PCP designation or working towards a designation
  • Experience doing payroll for  unionized and non-unionized environment
  • Experience with PayWeb system software an asset
  • Experience working with time and attendance software such as Tracker an asset
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
 
Hours: 30 hours per week

Starting Hourly Rate:   $25.14
