SUMMER STUDENT OPPORTUNITY  ~  ECE EDUCATORS

Locations:  Jacob Hespeler Child Care Centre Locations in Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo
 
We are currently accepting applications for Summer Student positions.
 
These positions will report to the Supervisor of the Child Care Centre. The successful applicant will have  exposure to “How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years (2014)” as this document is used for the purpose of guiding licensed child care programs under subsection 55 (3) of the CCEYA.  The successful applicant will work 35 hours per week at a rate of $11.46 per hour.  The position will start on July 10th and end on August 25th.
 
In order to qualify for these positions you must:
 
a)  be between the age of 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
b)  be registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year;
c)  intend to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year;
d)  be a student in a secondary, post-secondary, vocation or technical program;
e)  be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and
f)  be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.

HOUSING SUPPORT COORDINATOR

HOUSING SUPPORT COORDINATOR 
The Housing Support Coordinator works collaboratively to assist individuals and families to secure and maintain safe, affordable housing by assessing housing needs and supports, developing and implementing action plans, assisting with housing search related activities, partnering with landlords and housing providers to ensure appropriate housing placement and provide post placement follow-up.
 
 
Qualifications:
  • Successful completion of an undergraduate degree in Social Services or equivalent human services education and a minimum of three years’ work experience with individuals in a supportive housing setting preferred. 
  • Masters in Social Work would be an asset.
  • Conceptual and theoretical knowledge of strength based mental health approaches, addictions, trauma, violence against women, women in conflict with the law, youth and adolescents, crisis and suicide intervention
  • Proven skills in provision of services to persons experiencing homelessness, rapid rehousing, case management, support, counseling, conflict resolution, crisis intervention and suicide prevention and de-escalation skills
  • Demonstrated skill in the areas of program development, training and supervision of staff, budgeting, expenditure and revenue control
  • The position requires a tolerance of ambiguity and the ability to be able to change tasks or directions with ease, make back up plans, and adapt ways of providing support to the needs of diverse individuals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office
  • First Aid and CPR Level C Certification
  • Naloxone/Overdose Prevention Training
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Process Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable

  • Support general operations of the office
  • Maintain website
  • Answer phones/respond to email inquiries
 
Qualifications:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook

  •  Accounting knowledge. Knowledge of QuickBooks an asset

Human Resources Assistant - YWCA Kitchener-Waterloo

Human Resources Assistant
(9 week contract)
 
The Human Resources Assistant will be responsible for the delivery of administrative systems and supports to the human resource department.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Development and delivery of Health and Safety Training Modules
  • Auditing the Association’s Health and Safety Program, recommending improvements and overseeing the implementation of improvement measurers
  • Designing a new employee orientation program and assisting with orientations
  • Updating personnel policy manuals
 
Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in a full-time Human Resources Management program
  • Experience with PowerPoint, Adobe Captivate, or similar software
  • Strong self-organization and self-management skills with emphasis on self-initiation and follow through.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
 
Hourly Rate:  $16.00
Hours:            30 hours per week, 9 week contract.
