DUTIES:
Would include but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for the safe operation of our waterfront program
  • Implementing policies and procedures and safety standards
  • Programming fun, challenging waterfront activities
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • The successful candidate will be alert, safety conscious, flexible and enthusiastic
  • Have a current National Lifeguard Service Certification
  • Have a current Red Cross Instructor's Certification an asset
  • At least two years camp leadership experience
  • Related degree or diploma is an asset
  • Must be certified in First Aid and C.P.R.
 
All employees of the YW are expected to demonstrate respect, empathy, and accountability to the people who access our services, and to attend work regularly as regular attendance is critical to maintaining the highest quality and level of service expected in delivering services. 
 
HOURS:       35 hours per week up to 4 weeks. Up to four weeks bus monitor (41.25 hours or
                      46.25 hours/week). This position begins June 29th, 2019 until August 27th, 2021.
RATE:          $16.272 per hour, with an additional 2% in lieu of benefits.

​QUALIFICATIONS
A feminist understanding of women abuse and the dynamics of homelessness usually obtained through a combination of a degree and/or diploma in the social sciences, and relevant work experience.  Preference will be given to those familiar with the welfare system and those who have experience in a shelter setting. Crisis, suicide intervention, and an ability to successfully resolve conflict are required skills.  Valid Standard First Aid and CPR are required.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a member of a multi-disciplinary staff team, you will offer ongoing support to meet the housing, financial, and life support needs of women in residence; answer telephone inquiries regarding emergency housing; completes intakes and intake related tasks; keep accurate records of medication held for residents; and resolve conflicts between residents.  Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
 
All YW employees are expected to demonstrate respect, empathy, and accountability to the people who access our services, and to attend work regularly as regular attendance is critical to maintaining the highest quality and level of service expected in delivering services. 
 
RATE:                $22.078 per hour with an additional 2% in lieu of benefits
HOURS:              54 hours per pay period
YW reserves the right to deploy its employees to other shifts (including overnights and weekends), programs, or positions, within the homelessness and housing department based on program needs.
Please note that your position and priority is for overnight shifts and this is a condition of your employment.  This does not preclude you from taking extra daytime shifts that become available, on the condition that overnight shifts are your first priority, unless otherwise approved by your supervisor.

The School of Community Services, ECE Professional Resource Centre, has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Program Developer. 
We are currently seeking a qualified professional to develop a summer camp program for school-aged children that focuses on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) education.
 
Your contributions will directly make a difference in our local community.
 
This six-week contract role is an immediate start.
 
Although many of our employees are currently working remotely, all employees are expected to be able to work on campus as required.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Under the direction of the Manager of the ECE Professional Resource Centre, the successful candidate is responsible for completion of the program:
 
  • Designing activities in each area of STEAM that can be implemented with children, indoors and/or outdoors
  • Creating provocation kits that include resources, materials, and equipment to support STEAM programming
  • Developing a guidebook of ideas and questions for interacting with children to highlight learnings
  • Compiling a summary profile of developmental milestones for age groups
  • Creating a community of practice that supports camp staff and provides a platform to highlight stories of children’s experiences and successes
  • Working virtually in a collaborative, collegial manner
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • A Diploma or Degree in the sciences, or an education degree 
  • Minimum three years of experience working in a science-related industry or teaching science to school-aged children  
  • Strong knowledge of science, math, engineering, and technology concepts
  • Demonstrated ability to simplify complicated science concepts
  • Demonstrated ability to excite others in the possibilities of science, math, engineering, and technology concepts  
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a virtual environment
  • Strong commitment to meeting project deadlines
