 RESPONSIBILITIES
As a member of a multi-disciplinary staff team, you will provide assistance to tenants living in YW Supportive Housing to support their independent living and maintain their housing. Provide immediate support to tenants in conflict following an established Conflict Resolution Program and respond to requests for support and crisis intervention. Establish positive relationships with tenants and participate in the creation of a stable, secure environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of the impact of trauma and abuse and the impact of poverty and homelessness on individuals of all ages, normally obtained through the completion of a 2-year college program in Social Services and 2 years work experience in a residential or supportive housing environment. 
  • Knowledge in harm reduction philosophies and techniques, as well as crisis and suicide intervention skills
  • Experience working within the parameters of a Conflict Resolution Program.
  • Understanding of current legislation pertaining to housing, advocacy and tenant/landlord rights, usually obtained through a general knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act.
  • Ability to think independently, set priorities and resolve problems effectively and efficiently.
  • Valid certifications in Standard First Aid, CPR Level C, and Overdose prevention training.

A feminist understanding of women abuse and the dynamics of homelessness usually obtained through the completion of a degree in the social sciences.  Preference will be given to those familiar with the welfare system and those who have experience in a shelter setting. Crisis, suicide intervention, and an ability to successfully resolve conflict are required skills.  Valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a member of a multi-disciplinary staff team, you will offer ongoing support to meet the housing, financial, and life support needs of women in residence; answer telephone inquiries regarding emergency housing; completes intakes and intake related tasks; keep accurate records of medication held for residents; and resolve conflicts between residents.  Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

Bingemans Day Camp Counsellor 
Job Summary: Daily supervision of an assigned group of children and to participate in the weekly program development and implementation.
Job Duties:
• To foster healthy child development in children attending camp
• Greet Children and parents
• Ensure child safety while at camp
• Involve children in a variety of activities
• Participate and supervise children during all activities and during times of transition
• Competent and complete daily supervision for day camp children at all times
• Assist supervisors in the development and implementation of daily and weekly activities and program specials
• Complete weekly camper calls
• Provide feedback to parents on a daily basis
• Assist with meal preparation and cleanup
• Mentor Counselors-In-Training (CITs)
• Abide by policies and guidelines that are defined in the Staff Handbook and Bingemans’ Day Camp Policies and Procedures
• Comply with relevant health and safety laws as they apply under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Regulations and the WHMIS Regulations

Working Conditions:

Job Specifications: Education:
• currently enrolled in High School or a Post-Secondary program at College or University
• Emergency First Aid and CPR C or higher
• WHMIS
• High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development training required
Experience:
• Experience in program delivery for children preferred
• Previous Day Camp Counselor experience preferred
Other Requirements:
• Clearance certificate/Police Record Check (criminal background check)
• Must be willing to attend High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development training if not already trained
• Must be 18 years of age at minimum
• Proven ability to implement programs
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge on special needs/behavioral children
Physical Demands:

Job Summary:
Responsible for the safety of all guests in the pool area. Assists in providing exceptional service to guests while carrying out all responsibilities of lifeguarding and maintaining a waterpark area.
Job Duties:
• Responsible for keeping current with all Certifications and Training required.
• Is polite, friendly, and helpful to guests, management and fellow employees .
• Responsible for maintaining guest safety in the wavepool as well as all pool areas, demonstrating professional and consistent adherence to all pool safety standards .
• Effectively guard all pool guests and maintain a safe environment.
• Maintains safe use of the pool slide/water features and does not allow dangerous activities.
• Responsible for maintaining proper positioning, visibility and condition of pool safety and rescue equipment.
• Performs daily safety checks of pool area and slide for potential hazards.
• Perform regularly assigned maintenance duties including: opening/closing procedures, pool tests, and pool maintenance.
• Properly document all maintenance duties, pool test results, and emergency procedures.
• Continually monitor that all guests are wearing the daily wristbands.
• Knows the location and contents of First Aid Kits.
• Adheres to all pool safety standards, including safety procedures for adverse weather conditions.
• Executes all water safety and rescue procedures in accordance with current Life Saving Society and Bingemans’ standards.
• Performs all duties in a timely and professional manner.
• Turns in lost and found items throughout shift according to Bingemans Standards.
