Day Camp Supervisor

Day Camp Supervisor is responsible for direct supervision of day camp counsellors for the Summer Day Camp Program for ages 4 to 14 years, as well as a Counsellor-in-Training program for 13-15 years, in a variety of activities including sport and recreation programs that promote healthy growth and development.
 
Job Overview:
 
  • Assist with weekly schedule and program activities.
  • Staff training including counsellors and CITs.
  • Parent communication program which will act as a liaison between the camp staff and the parents of the day camp children.
  • Efficient and effective registrant check in processes.
  • Supervise the program during the day camp.
  • Maintain a safe and positive atmosphere for the children, always striving to provide the highest quality of service to both the children and the parents.
  • Always ensure the safety of children.
 
Job Requirements:
 
  • Currently enrolled in or has completed a Child Care post-secondary program at college or university.
  • Standard First Aid and CPRC/AED.
  • High Five Training Completion Certificate.
  • Experience in program development for children’s camp is necessary.
  • Previous day camp experience a must.
  • Supervisory experience is required.
  • Police Record Check required (criminal background check).
  • Proven ability to create and implement programs.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to participate in water activities in the Wave pool.
  • High energy level required to keep staff and children motivated.
  • Ability to walk around the park and participate in activities with campers.
  • A Sound decision making in stressful situations.
  • Ability to handle the stress and the high mental demands of working with a high number of children.
  • Ability to see the “Big Picture” at all times in regard to safety, liability, parental approval etc.
 
Working conditions:
 
  • Hours: Monday to Friday – June 29th, 2020- September 4th, 2020.
  • Start Time: Between 7:30 am and 8:30 am.
  • End Time: Between 4:30 pm and 5:30pm.
  • Indoor and outdoor environment, Waterpark.
  • Various camps available: We have Day Camp, Sports Camp, Arts Camp, Paintball Camp, Chef Camp, Eco Camp, Gaming 101 Camp, Bowling Camp Minecraft Camp and Canoeing Camp this year.

Day Camp Counsellor

Day Camp Counsellor is responsible for daily supervision of an assigned group of children as well as weekly program development and implementation.

Job Overview:
  • Ensure child safety while at camp.
  • Involve children in a variety of activities.
  • Foster healthy child development in children attending camp.
  • Greet Children and parents.
  • Participate and supervise children during all activities and during times of transition.
  • Daily supervision for day camp children at all times.
  • Assist supervisors in the development and implementation of daily and weekly activities and program specials.
  • Complete weekly camper calls.
  • Provide feedback to parents on daily basis.
  • Assist with meal preparation and cleanup.
  • Mentor Counselors-In-Training (CITs).
  • Abide by policies and guidelines that are defined in the Staff Handbook and Bingemans’ Day Camp Policies and Procedures.
  • Comply with relevant health and safety laws as they apply under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Regulations and the WHMIS Regulations.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Day Camp Supervisor and/or Coordinator.
 
Job Requirements:
  • Must be 18 years of age at minimum.
  • Currently enrolled in High School or a Post-Secondary program at College or University.
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR C or higher.
  • High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development training required.
  • Experience in program delivery for children preferred.
  • Previous Day Camp Counsellor experience preferred.
  • Police Record Check required (criminal background check).
  • Must be able to swim.
  • Must be willing to attend High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development training if not already trained.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge on special needs/behavioral children.
  • High energy level required to keep staff and children motivated.
  • Ability to walk around the park and participate in activities with campers.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Alertness to monitor the safety of the children at all times.
  • High energy level required to keep staff and children motivated.
  • Ability to handle the stress and the high mental demands of working with a high number of children.
Working Conditions:
  • Hours: Monday to Friday – June 29th, 2020- September 4th, 2020.
  • Start Time: Between 7:30 am and 8:30 am.
  • End Time: Counselors are required to continue working until the Supervisor/Coordinator decides (between 4:30pm and 5:30pm)
  • Indoor and outdoor environment, Waterpark.

Nous sommes présentement à la recherche d’éducateurs (trices) pour le camp d’été au Centre Éducatif Village d’Élisabeth.
 
MANDAT
 

  • Mettre en œuvre et surveiller les programmes d'activités conçus pour les jeunes enfants;
  • Assurer que l’environnement de l’enfant est sain et sécuritaire.
 
  • Diriger les activités des enfants, notamment raconter des histoires, enseigner des chansons et préparer du matériel de bricolage;
 
  • Préparer les collations et les servir aux enfants au besoin;
 
  • Aider les enfants à prendre de bonnes habitudes pour les repas, l'habillement et la toilette;
 
  •  Fournir à leur supérieur des observations écrites sur les enfants;
 
  • Assister aux réunions du personnel pour discuter des progrès et des difficultés des enfants au besoin;
 
  • Aider leur supérieur à tenir les carnets de communication des enfants;
 
  • Assurer l'entretien de l'équipement de la garderie et participer aux tâches ménagères;
  • Respecter et suivre la routine journalière des groupes;
  • Respecter les politiques de la garderie;
  • Maintenir la confidentialité des enfants, de leur famille et des employés;
  • Accueillir les parents au centre et être professionnel en tout temps;
  • Maintenir une attitude positive, professionnelle et collaborative;
  • S’intégrer dans l’équipe et prendre l’initiative pour assurer le bon fonctionnement du centre.


EXIGENCES REQUISES
 
  • Avoir 18 ans ou plus
  • Un rapport de recherche d’antécédents judiciaires négatif de moins de 6 mois
  • Un test de tuberculose
  • Être flexible pour travailler entre 7h00 et 18h00
  • Solide maîtrise du français oral et écrit
  • Dynamisme et sens des responsabilités
  • Bonne maîtrise de l’anglais, un atout
  • Certificat de premier soins un atout

DUTIES: 
  • To provide classroom coverage
  • To provide support and assistance to part-time and full-time childcare staff with daily Centre routines
and in the delivery of stimulating, developmentally appropriate play-based programming
  • To provide a warm and nurturing environment for children and families
  • To ensure the health and safety of the children
  • To act as a positive role model for the children
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education or equivalent would be an asset
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working with children in a licensed childcare setting
  • Proven ability to work as an effective team member
