Program Manager for Autism Services of Waterloo Region

This position is a liaison between individuals, families and organizations and continues to build ASWR’s awareness in the community through marketing, presentations, public relations, social media and development of materials. Advocacy and enhancement of community awareness on Autism Spectrum Disorder is important to the role. Engaging collaborative members as appropriate and including both family advocates and service providers to grow the membership of the collaborative group is also a key focus.

This position coordinates and oversees the Family Resource Coach role that directly supports family outreach and service navigation. Research projects and written reports are an expectation to help understand current needs of families and the community. The Program Manager will seek ways to address the demands and present recommendations to the collaborative based on research results. Engaging the collaborative in leveraging community resources to better support families with a diagnosis of ASD is also an expectation.The successful candidate is expected to participate in regional systems planning groups which may include the Waterloo Region Children and Youth Services Council, The Positive Parenting Committee, The Children’s Planning Table, and the Alliance for Children and Youth. Responsibilities include ongoing presentations at board meetings and to senior management of various organizations to communicate impact of ASWR to continue to develop stakeholder relationships to build a sustainability plan.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates for this position should have post secondary education in social services, psychology or related field. A strong understanding of issues and services relating to families impacted by ASD and the impact of building community capacity is a definite asset. Applicants must have exceptional interpersonal skills, excellent communication both oral and written and excellent leadership and organizational skills. This is a high-energy position which will benefit from an innovative thinker and relationship builder. It is imperative to understand the value of teamwork, authentic collaboration and yet be a self starter capable of achieving goals with minimal supervision.
