ACCOUNTS PAYABLE/RECEIVABLE ASSOCIATE
(Non-union)

YW Kitchener-Waterloo
As the Accounts Payable & Receivable Associate you’ll play an integral role in supporting our Finance team.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounts Payable:
  • Perform full-cycle accounts payable
  • Audit and confirm that all invoices and expenses have proper coding, approvals and are in accordance with the policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Set up new vendors, EFTs
  • Input vendor invoices
  • Prepare cheques and direct deposit files for proper signatures and approvals
  • Reconcile vendor statements
  • Respond to vendor queries
  • Maintain vendor and customer files
  • Update vendor information in the sub-ledger as required
  • Prepare and enter journals
  • Quarterly processing of the HST return
  • Reconcile monthly credit cards – attach all receipts/invoices to the statement Summarize by account and prepare monthly adjustment entries to reflect the expenses
  • Payroll support/back up

Accounts Receivable:
  • Process twice per month pre-authorized payments for childcare fees, also collect benefit premiums from staff on leave
  • Reconcile accounts receivable on a monthly basis
  • Record the revenues in Children Services programs
 
Skills & Experience
  • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude
  • Proven work experience in accounts receivable/payable role
  • Organized and has ability to accurately process numerical data
  • Strong attention to detail while being able to handle multiple tasks concurrently and meet daily, monthly and quarterly deadlines
  • Self-motivated and able to work both independently and in a group setting in a high volume, fast-paced, and demanding environment
  • High degree of accuracy when handling discrepancies
  • Proficient with numbers and calculations
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office including Word, Outlook
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

​Qualifications and Requirements
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in a non-profit, charitable, or social enterprise preferred
  • Highly organized and effective team player
  • Strong communication and time management skills with an eye for detail
  • Ability to identify potential problems and articulate possible solutions concisely and clearly
  • All work has to be done in a timely manner with the highest degree of accuracy possible
  • Discretion in having access to and handling very confidential information

STARTING SALARY:         $ 51,772.50/annum - ($26.55/hour)
HOURS OF WORK:           37.5 per week - Monday to Friday
                                            (some flexibility required to meet deadlines)
START DATE:                     As soon as possible
