Qualifications: Registered Early Childhood Educator
Pay: $20/hr; anticipated 2-2.5hrs each day.
ACTIVEIntegration is a research-to-action initiative made up of a number of partners in the Waterloo Region who are passionate about providing physical activity programming for new immigrant women and children while working to understand the benefits of physical activity for new Canadians. For more information on this initiative, please see www.activeintegration.ca. Physical activity programming is currently planned at two community centres in Kitchener on Tuesdays (Chandler Mowat Community Centre) and Thursdays (Victoria Hills Community Centre) from 12:30-2:00pm starting March 8 and ending April 28.
One of the barriers to full participation in the physical activity programming is the need for childcare. We are offering free childcare to individuals who wish to take part in the women-only physical activity programs (children must be 2+ years in age). We are seeking a part-time ECE to be responsible for childcare during the physical activity programming at the centres. We are looking for someone who is warm, energetic, adaptable, and able to interact effectively with City staff, physical activity volunteers, and women/children from a variety of cultures. We would consider 1 ECE to cover times at both Centres (ideally) or 2 ECEs (1 for each Centre, if necessary).
