Starting at $16.50/hr. +

Job Description
1. Assists with designing and implementing a program that will nurture the children physically, cognitively, socially, emotionally and spiritually. This will include individual and group, active and quiet play experiences that will encourage:
•             communication and language skills
•             fine motor development
•             gross motor development
•             self esteem
•             problem solving
•             creativity and individuality
•             social interaction and respect for others
•             healthy respect for authority
•             spiritual growth
2. Develops a warm and caring relationship with the children.
3. Operates within the requirements of the Child care and Early Year Act 2014.
4. Ensures that the cleaning procedures required by the Health Unit, as stated in the Policies and Procedures Binder, are carried out on a daily basis.
5. Works as a team member with all other staff and volunteers
 
Qualifications:  
  • A graduate of an accredited Early Childhood Education Program.
  •  Be a member of The College of E.C.E. in good standing
  • Be willing and excited to work with children with a range of special needs
  • Good written and verbal communications skills.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C
  • This candidate must be willing to work and participate in a Christian environment
  • Has an understanding of Emergent practices, observation and documentation.
  •  Is Familiar with the ‘How does Learning Happen ‘Document or is willing to learn and embrace it.

  • To implement engaging and developmentally appropriate activities for 4 - 12 year olds which allow for choice, creativity, and independence
  • To take responsibility for the health and safety of the children in your care
  • To follow daily schedules and take responsibility for clean up and organization of supplies
  • To act as a positive role model for the children
  • To work as part of a team of Youth Development Workers
  • Maintaining effective communication with staff, parents, facility staff and manager
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Registered Early Childhood Educator or related degree such as Recreation and Leisure, Child and Youth Worker (subject to approval by the Ministry of Education)
  • Minimum one year experience with School Age children, preferably in a childcare, education or recreation setting
  •  Understanding of the Child Care and Early Years Act and familiarity with the use of assessment tools such as ECERS, ITERS, SACERS, High Five
  • Enthusiasm, initiative and a working knowledge of child development
  • Proven ability to work as an effective team member
  •  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification

Part Time Home Child Care Coordinator (.8 FTE)

Requires a Part Time Home Child Care Coordinator (.8 FTE)


The Social Services department is seeking a Home Child Care Coordinator to work as part of the Children’s Services Team ensuring effective and accurate operations of the licensed home child agency.  The home child care coordinator will be an essential point of contact for all home child providers, parents and community members providing support and assistance with home inspection, approval, child registration and CCEYA licensing requirements.  This position will also assist with departmental Social Media needs, websites, and event pages.
Qualifications:
  • A college diploma or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education is required
  • Must be registered, and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE)
  • Must have at least two years supervisor experience in licensed child care
  • Must provide valid Standard CPR and First Aid Training Level C
  • Must provide Police Reference Check Clearance with Vulnerability Screening
  • Willingness and ability to travel when required
Skills:
  • Thorough understanding of Child Care and Early Years Act (2014), How Does Learning Happen? and Early Learning for Every Child Today (ELECT) framework
  • Ability to recruits and select and support approved home child care providers while meeting CCEYA regulations
  • Accurately performs administrative tasks in a timely manner
  • Attends workshops and training sessions to maintain professional development
  • Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with children, parents and staff
  • Works independently and as a member of a team
