DUTIES: 
  • To provide classroom coverage
  • To provide support and assistance to part-time and full-time childcare staff with daily centre routines and in the delivery of stimulating, developmentally appropriate play-based programming
  • To provide a warm and nurturing environment for children and families
  • To ensure the health and safety of the children
  • To act as a positive role model for the children
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education or equivalent would be an asset
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working with children in a licensed childcare setting
  • Proven ability to work as an effective team member

  • Complete program plans as per curriculum requirements
  • Work with team members to ensure that a diversified program is developed with established routines that supports and nurtures the development of the child

Full Time RECE-(1 year contract). Our Place, Family Resource and Early Years Centre

Our Place currently has 1 contract full time RECE position starting January 9, 2017 and ending 
December  21, 2017 with possibility of renewal.
 
Qualifications:
Must be a registered member with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
 
Strong candidates for this position will have:
  • 3- 5 years experience working in programs with children from birth to age 6 and their families, preferably in a community setting.
  • Proven experience working within a diverse and inclusive environment. 
  • Demonstrated interest, knowledge and/or experience with emergent curriculum, play based learning and early learning pedagogy, specifically the Ministry of Education’s How Does Learning Happen? document.
  • Experience in parent engagement.
  • Knowledge of Family Support Principles.
  • Proven ability and willingness to work as an integral member of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Second language an asset.
  • Standard First Aid with infant/child/adult CPR required
  • Police Check and Family and Children’s Services Check required.
 
Responsibilities include:
  • Implementing play based, child centered activities and programs that promote early learning and support children’s holistic development.
  •  Providing a welcoming, inclusive and safe environment that supports a sense of belonging for children and their families. 
  •  Assisting families in accessing information and community resources related to child development and early learning including provincially approved screening resources.
  •  Set-up and take-down of program equipment and materials.
  •  Ability to multi-task to ensure the safety of all the children under their direct supervision, within the program guidelines.
 
Hours of work: Monday to Friday 8:30am – 3:30pm. Some evening and/or weekend work are required depending on programming and need.

WRDSB SUPPLY DESIGNATED EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATORS

The Waterloo Region District School Board is currently seeking applications for ‘Supply Designated Early Childhood Educators’.  

The designated early childhood educator (DECE) will partner with the classroom teacher to plan and implement a full day early learning kindergarten program within a classroom setting. The DECE will also provide supervision and age appropriate learning for groups of students as part of the extended day program as required.  The DECE will report to the Principal of the school.  

 Successful candidates for the supply positions will be working on an “on call” basis from September to June.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Hold a two year community college Early Childhood Education Diploma preferably with experience in a childcare or educational setting
  • Provide proof of registration with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators                                  
  • Hold Standard First Aid with CPR Level C/AED
 
Applications and supporting documentation stating qualifications and experience, including a copy of your Certificate of Registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators and proof of Standard First Aid with CPR Level C/AED must be included in your portfolio.
