Position: Registered Early Childhood Educator  (RECE)

 MAC MGS Preschool and Childcare Center opened its doors this past September. We are a Ministry licensed child care center that caters to children between the ages of 18 months and 4 years.  We follow the emergent philosophy and are natural play inspired.

 Primary Responsibilities:
  • Plan and implement age appropriate programs to enhance children's development while ensuring the philosophy of the program is followed for children between the ages of 1.5-4
  • Provide a safe and emotionally supportive environment while being respectful to each individuals developmental needs

PART-TIME RECE TEACHER NEEDED

Position Available: RECE Teacher, Part time 

Waterloo Co-Operative Preschool is a non-profit co-operative preschool run for the children, by the parents and teachers. We are looking for a RECE Teacher who has experience working with children aged 18 months to 5 years to be a Teacher in a part time role at our preschool.  Our ideal candidate will be caring, enthusiastic, energetic and compassionate and will possess a true love of working with young children and their families.  A minimum of 2 years of experience would be beneficial.

The Position:
The RECE Teacher will work in our Morning and Afternoon Preschool classes, the KinderPrep class and Toddler classes, as needed, alongside the Full time RECE Teacher.  The position’s hours will be Monday afternoons, all day on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays to about 25 hours per week. The preschool also runs classes on Monday mornings and Friday mornings that may occasionally require the presence of the Part time Teacher.  This position requires an individual who is a great team player and is flexible based on the needs of the preschool and the Full time Teacher.

Responsibilities include:  
·Assist in planning, preparing and carrying out developmentally appropriate programs and activities.
·Conduct activities with children on an individual and group basis.
·Teach using a variety of techniques including modeling, observing, questioning, demonstrating and reinforcing.
·Provide positive guidance to children, including redirecting, positive language and positive reinforcement.
·Support and guide duty parents in the classroom.
·Work diplomatically and communicate effectively with a variety of people, including other staff, children, parents, the Board of Directors and various agency representatives

Qualifications:
·A diploma in Early Childhood Education or equivalent
·Current registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE)
·Demonstrated practical understanding of implementing a preschool curriculum, and supporting the developmental needs of preschool-aged children. 
·Experience working in a co-operative or non-profit preschool environment an asset
·A Vulnerable Sector Check, valid First Aid/CPR certificate and all necessary up-to-date immunizations
·Working knowledge of the Day Nurseries Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Child and Family Services Act.

Wage: Paid Bi-weekly $16.00-$20.00/hour based on experience
Position commences: mid-January or beginning of February, 2015

EMERGENCY SUPPLY EDUCATORS NEEDED FOR WRDSB

Call for Emergency Supply Educators (ESE)
The Waterloo Region District School Board is currently seeking applications for “Emergency Supply Educators (ESE)” specifically for Full Day Kindergarten and Extended Day Programs. 

Reporting to the principal, the ESE deployed will implement the full day early learning program, and provide age appropriate learning activities for groups of children as required. Opportunities to work shifts within the hours of 7:00 AM – 6:00PM will be available.  

Successful candidates for the Emergency Supply Educator position will be working on an “on call” basis.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be enrolled in post-secondary education in the field of Social Science; preferably enrolled in an apprenticeship or concurrent education program.

• Supervise and assist children in washroom routines and toileting/diapering, dressing and outdoor play during nutrition breaks;
• Maintain appropriate records for students (e.g. health, attendance, etc.);
• Collaborate and maintain set-up of classroom (e.g. display, organization of materials 
etc.);
• Perform basic non-intrusive medical interventions as needed and directed;
• Communicate with parents and school staff as appropriate;

Location: Five (5) Various Children’s Centres within the Region of Waterloo

Description of Duties:
Provides early childhood education programs that meet the developmental needs of children enrolled in the Region’s corporately operated Children’s Centres. Ensures compliance with the Day Nurseries Act (DNA), Child & Family Services Act (C&FSA), Regional policy & procedures, and maintains the standards and practices of the HighScope Curriculum Approach to Early Childhood Education. Occasionally works after hours for staff meetings, parent/teacher meetings, training and other activities.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Knowledge of teaching methods, principles and practices related to Early Childhood Education, normally acquired through the completion of a post secondary diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education or an approved equivalency through the Association of Early Childhood Educators Ontario, plus two years direct work experience in a licensed early learning or child care setting.
  • Must possess a current registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators, Ontario.
  • Must be eligible for HighScope certification with the HighScope Educational Research Foundation within 12 months of start of employment.
  • Must provide proof of and maintain a record of immunizations and negative Tuberculosis test.
  • Must possess Infant & Child CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of and experience with inclusive practice, child development, child guidance, child health and nutrition, and special needs children. Knowledge of and experience with the HighScope Curriculum Approach to Early Childhood Education. Knowledge of the Day Nurseries Act and related Regional policy. Knowledge of Standard First Aid.
  • Human relations skills, including knowledge of communication and observational techniques.
  • Computer skills with ability to use software such as MS Word to document student notes
  • Must provide an acceptable Police Records Check in order to ensure suitability for working with vulnerable populations.*
  • Ability to read professional journals/manuals and participate in job training workshops to maintain current knowledge in the field.
  • Ability to document observations of children’s behaviour and development each day and create written daily program plans based on observations and knowledge of child development. Maintain documentation on each child in classroom and prepare written reports for meetings with parents, team members, and external consultants. Prepare application packages and supporting documentation for teacher certification with the HighScope Educational Research Foundation.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly while interacting with children daily and adapt communication strategies to meet individual children’s needs. Communicates with parents, team members, and other professionals to share information and to solicit feedback and input into discussions, respond to questions and inquiries from parents, and discuss occurrences in the centre with the supervisor and other members of the team.
  • Ability to support and project values compatible with the organization.

PART-TIME R.E.C.E. NEEDED

Part-Time R.E.C.E  - Little Mountain Parent Participating Preschool
Job Description

The RECE will be working as part of a team made up of one Duty Parent per day and the Supervisor/Teacher in a classroom with 16 children between the ages of 2.5 yrs to 5 yrs.  Programming is play-based but with a structured component based on the children’s needs for skill development. This may include social or communication skills, fine motor or cognitive development, ESL or ASD.

The RECE will program plan with Supervisor/Teacher including room set-up, attend general co-operative meetings as well as participate in resource meetings when applicable.
The RECE will assist in supervising university students who do placements at the preschool and in supervising the Duty Parent.
The RECE must be willing to make a yearly commitment to the program September to June. 

Hours
Morning Program runs 8:30 -12:00 PM Thursday and Friday’s September to June,
Possible Afternoon Program 12:30 – 3:30 PM  Monday and Wednesday (holiday Monday classes is held on Tuesday’s) – hoping to start this program mid-January and hours will be based on number of children enrolled.
Additional morning hours maybe available.
Summer Camp may be an option

Qualifications
Registered Early Childhood Educator
Current police check (within 3 months of hire)
Up to date immunizations
First Aid and CPR certification
Experience with working with parents in a classroom setting
Experience working with children who have diverse needs
Commitment to program from start date (possibly January) till June with the possibility of a yearly renewal (September to June)

Skills
Ability to be flexible and yet maintain structure in the program
Patient and emphatic
Ability to learn and do resourcing to better familiarize oneself with a culture or a disability
Basic computer knowledge to complete paperwork and correspond with school community
Willingness to do what needs to be done to make program run smoothly – this may include cleaning classroom, toilet training, suddenly doing a craft or circle, preparing snack

FUNCTION:  To create a stimulating, safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow, while supporting families.  Adhere to the Days Nursery Act and YMCA policies and procedures.

 SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
-To work before and/or after school hours with children that are 5 to 12 years of age
-To create an environment that is safe, clean and welcoming.
-Provide materials for children that will give them the opportunity to learn, be successful and grow as individuals.
-Responsible for communicating with parents.
-Work with team members to prepare a quality program that meets the appropriate development needs of the children.
-Complete program plans as per curriculum requirements.

-Attend workshops, training, conferences and staff meetings as required.
-Assumes other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
-Completion of Community College ECE diploma or equivalent
-CECE Membership required for qualified ECE candidates
-CPR and First Aid certification
-Familiar with the Day Nurseries Act
-Acceptable Police Check     
-3-6 months of experience in programming with children and families preferred

R.E.C.E. Position, In the Preschool room of a Christian based Centre: ‘The Oaks Early Learning Childcare’- Cambridge

Duties:   
To care for children between 2 ½ and 5 years of age
Provide a nurturing, inclusive experience that engages the children and provides learning opportunities
To set up the room and provide activities that interest the children; document and reflect on their experiences
