The Waterloo Catholic District School Board with a total student population of 23,000, provides services to students in 50 schools (Kindergarten to Grade 12) across the Waterloo Region.

General Description of Duties:  
  • Ensuring the rules and regulations of the childcare are followed 
  • Delivery of program and snacks 
  • Communicating regularly with staff and supervisor 
Minimum Requirements: 
  • Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) or experience working in a childcare setting 
  • Standard CPR/First Aid 
  • Committed to providing quality inclusive childcare programming 
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods; and must be able to physically assist children as required (e.g. lifting) 
Desirable Assets:  
  • Good Standing with the College of ECE’s 
  • Excellent Communication and teamwork skills 
  • Comfortable working in all program areas (e.g. infants, toddlers) 
Salary Level  
  • $21.87 (certified) or $16.78 (uncertified) per hour, plus Vacation Pay  
(temporary rates until at least June 30, 2022 – Regular rates:  $19.87 (certified) or $15.50 (uncertified)) 

Hours of Work:  
  • Casual on call as needed (St. Louis Adult Learning & Continuing Education Campuses only) 
  • Program Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:15 am – 3:30 pm (September to June) 
NOTE : We hire from the supply list for long term temporary assignments and permanent assignments  
(staff may be eligible for benefits with long term assignments)

Part-time nanny / ECE for home childcare

Looking for a weekly nanny / ECE to help care for two kids, 4 and 2
Location: NE Kitchener (KIwanis Park)

​Our family is looking to hire an ECE student as a part-time nanny for our son, 4 and daughter, 2. We would like some help 1-2 afternoons a week in the after school hours from approximately 3pm to 7:30pm. There will also be other opportunities for child care on occasional weeknights and weekends.

Location: NE Kitchener (KIwanis Park)
Schedule: 1-2 weekdays a week, including either Tuesday or Wednesday, from 3pm to 7:30pm. Other days may be requested occasionally.

Duration: Starting as soon as possible; ongoing.

Ideally you are an ECE student who is First-Aid & CPR certified (or willing to work towards both), has proof of full vaccination, and can provide an updated vulnerable sector (police) check. Previous nanny or babysitting experience, especially for young children, is required.

You will be providing a helping hand to a stay-at-home mom. Care requirements include helping with meals and snacks, diaper/potty assistance, helping with bedtime routines, keeping the playroom/toys tidy throughout the day.

Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of two toddlers (at times only one while mom picks up / drops off the older one from school)
  • Consider balanced nutrition when preparing meals and snacks and ensure food is consumed safely
  • Assist with bath time, dressing and potty/diaper changes
  • Take initiative and use the best judgment in managing a balance between free play / child-led play, and more structured or creative activities

Qualifications:
  • Studying towards ECE certificate
  • Babysitting/nanny experience caring for toddlers / young children
  • Full covid-19 vaccination
  • First-Aid and CPR training
  • Vulnerable sector check through police department
