Position: Registered Early Childhood Educator  (RECE)
Location: 160 Courtland Ave E, Kitchener ON
Status: Full-time and Part-time Positions Available

 MAC MGS Preschool and Childcare Center opened its doors this past September. We are a Ministry licensed child care center that caters to children between the ages of 18 months and 4 years.  We follow the emergent philosophy and are natural play inspired.

 Primary Responsibilities:
  • Plan and implement age appropriate programs to enhance children's development while ensuring the philosophy of the program is followed for children between the ages of 1.5-4
  • Provide a safe and emotionally supportive environment while being respectful to each individuals developmental needs
  • To be a positive, caring and nurturing role model for the children
  • Follow all policies and procedures of MAC MGS Preschool and Childcare Centre
 Qualifications:
  • Registered with College of ECE’s
  • Have either a college diploma or university degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Criminal Record Check
  • First Aid and CPR
  • Experience in the field
  • Leadership skills
  • Exemplary administrative and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude towards children, parents and staff
Salary and Benefits: Dependent upon experience and qualifications
Starting Date: Ongoing, as positions vary upon enrollment

CASUAL CHILDCARE WORKER (unionized position)

DUTIES: 
  • To provide classroom coverage
  • To provide support and assistance to part-time and full-time childcare staff with daily centre routines and in the delivery of stimulating, developmentally appropriate play-based programming
  • To provide a warm and nurturing environment for children and families
  • To ensure the health and safety of the children
  • To act as a positive role model for the children

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education or equivalent would be an asset
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working with children in a licensed childcare setting
  • Proven ability to work as an effective team member

Pay rate: $16.50 per hour, with an additional 2% in lieu of benefits
Hours: as needed Monday to Friday

Applications are invited for the permanent part-time position of:
CHILD CARE WORKER II (unionized position)

DUTIES:
·       To plan and provide a Child and Parent program that supports the development of adaptive problem solving and decision making skills, positive self-esteem, independence and trust.
·       To ensure a safe environment for the children while in the care of the Creative Play Worker.
·       To provide or arrange for first aid in case of emergency.
·       To establish and maintain rapport with parents and respond to parent’s inquiries, suggestions and concerns regarding the Child and Parent program.
·       To respect the confidentiality of children and their families.
·       To follow all policies and procedures of the YWCA.
·       To maintain relevant records.

QUALIFICATIONS:
·       Diploma in Early Childhood Education or related social science field would be an asset
·       Sound knowledge of child development, preferably of high-needs children.
·       Sound knowledge of developmental, mental and physical health issues.
·       Experience working with high-needs women and children.
·       Knowledge of the current Ontario Child Welfare legislation.
·       CPR and First Aid certification required.
·       Excellent communication, planning and organizational skills.
·       Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Rate of pay:   $18.554 per hour, with an additional 2% in lieu of benefits
Hours:         9 hours per week, three evenings per week.
                    15 hours per week July and August day shifts.
