ChildCare Worker II (Unionized Position)

Organization: YWCA Bridgeport Childcare Centre
Hours:37.5 hours per week
Wage: $18.044 per hour

Duties: (would include but not be limited to)
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of a stimulating, developmentally appropriate play-based program for children and their families
  • To take an active role as part of the Centre’s professional child care team
  • To provide a warm and nurturing environment for children and families
  • To maintain effective communication with staff, parents and coordinator
  • To ensure the health and safety of the children 
  • To act as a positive role model for the children

Qualifications:
  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education would be an asset
  • CPR and First Aid Training
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working with children in a licensed childcare setting
  • Proven ability to work as an effective team member

Volunteer and Student Placement Coordinator (Full Time)

Organization: KW Habilitation
Location: To be determined
Hours: 40hrs per week
Reports to: Manager of Early Learning, Child Care and Family Resources
Date Required:January 2014 (possibility of an earlier start date for some positions)

Qualifications: The successful candidate(s) will possess a College diploma and/or University Degree in the Social Sciences (Education related to Early Childhood Education and/or Developmental Disabilities preferred) and a minimum of two years of experience working with volunteers in a social service setting. Volunteer Management Education (Certificate/Diploma) is an asset. In addition to strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills, the incumbent must also have a good working knowledge of practices and principles related to inclusive early learning and child care, and person-centred support for individuals with developmental disabilities. Access to reliable transportation and solid computer proficiency are also required for this role.

Job Description: The Volunteer and Student Placement Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, screening, selecting,training, and supervising volunteers and for coordinating the development of policies and procedures relating to these activities. In addition, the Volunteer and Student Placement Coordinator will promote and facilitate student placement opportunities within Early Learning and other Programs offered by KW Habilitation. 
Note: The initial focus of this position will be to support our Early Learning, Child Care and Family Resources initiatives.
