RECE Needed for Moppet Preschool

Are you an energetic and nurturing RECE Teacher? Want to make a difference in a small, cooperative environment?

Moppet Preschool is looking for a dedicated individual who can inspire our member families and become part of our community. 

Moppet is a half-day, play-based cooperative preschool for children from 1.5 to 5 years olf. For more than 30 years, we have been providing children with a stimulating, fun and gentle introduction to the school environment. For details about our programs, please visit www.MoppetPreschool.com. Our bright, renovated classroom is located in Suddaby Public School in central Kitchener. 

Responsibilities:
The RECE Teacher will work in our Morning Preschool and SPARK classes along side the Supervisor/RECE Teacher. 


Responsibilities include:
- Assist senior staff in planning, preparing and carrying out developmentally appropriate programs and activities. 
- Conduct activities with children on an individual and group basis.
- Teach in a variety of techniques, including modeling, observing, questioning, demonstrating and reinforcing. 
- Support and guide duty people (e.g. parents, grandparents, care-givers) in the classroom. 
- Work diplomatically and communicate effectively with a variety of people, including senior staff, children, parents, the executive board and various agency representatives. 

Qualifications:
- A diploma in Early Childhood Education or equivalent
- Current registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE)
- Demonstrated practical understanding of implementing an emergent curriculum, and supporting the developmental needs of preschool-aged children. 
- Experience working in a co-operative or non-profit preschool environment an asset
- A Vulnerable Sector Check, valid First Aid/CPR certificate and all necessary up-to-date immunizations
- Working knowledge of the Day Nurseries Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act,  and Child and Family Services Act. 

Our program runs for 40 weeks between September 14, 2015 and June 23, 2016. The RECE Teacher works approximately 20 hours per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. We offer competitive wages along with paid professional development time and activities.

Part Time Child Care Teacher Needed

POSITION: Child Care Teacher
LOCATION: Cambridge or Kitchener-Waterloo
REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Child Care Centre
HOURS:  Part Time variable hours including before and/or after School hours (evenings & weekends as required)
SALARY: $15.72 per hour
START DATE:  Immediate

FUNCTION:  To create a stimulating, safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow, while supporting families.  Adhere to the Days Nursery Act and YMCA policies and procedures.

 SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
-To work before and/or after school hours with children that are 5 to 12 years of age
-To create an environment that is safe, clean and welcoming.
-Provide materials for children that will give them the opportunity to learn, be successful and grow as individuals.
-Responsible for communicating with parents.
-Work with team members to prepare a quality program that meets the appropriate development needs of the children.
-Complete program plans as per curriculum requirements.
-Ensures that a diversified program is developed with established routines that supports and nurtures the development of the child.
-Set-up classroom for children resulting in an environment that will be welcoming with the various age appropriate toys and activities.
-Responsible for written communication consisting of attendance and accident reports, daily communication book recording messages and maintain information sheets on each child.
-Administer medication as per requirements.

-Prepare developmental profiles and conduct parent – teacher interviews as required
-Provide positive child guidance.
-Attend workshops, trainings, conferences and staff meetings as required.
-Assumes other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
-Completion of Community College ECE diploma or equivalent
-CECE Membership required for qualified ECE candidates
-CPR and First Aid certification
-Familiar with the Day Nurseries Act
-Acceptable Police Check     
-3-6 months of experience in programming with children and families preferred

We ask the Coordinator to plan daily games, activities and purchase and prepare afternoon snacks (supplies and food to be paid for by the school in reimbursement), as well as be responsible for the safe arrival and dismissal of children, daily attendance and all necessary child related information. The Coordinator will have and maintain First Aid and CPR qualifications for the duration of the contract.
