The Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) is a national non-profit charitable organization with chapters in 13 cities across
Canada. MAC is currently seeking Registered Early Childhood Educators for the MAC MGS Preschool and Childcare Centre opening this September in Kitchener, Ontario. MAC MGS Preschool and Childcare Centre will be a fully Ministry Licensed childcare centre that will cater to children between the ages of 15 months and 4 years of age. 
  
Position: Early Childhood Educator
Hours: Full Time and Part Time

Primary Responsibilities:
  • To provide a warm and nurturing environment for children and families
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of a high quality program that meets the interest and development needs of the children
  • Observe, document and asses the children
  • Working knowledge of the Day Nurseries Act
  • To act as a positive role model to the children

Qualifications:
  • Two year diploma in Early Childhood Education
  • A member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario
  • Current certification in CPR and First Aid Level
  • Clear Criminal Record Check
  • Training in the use of environmental assessment tools (ECER-s, etc..)
  • Experience working in the field
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude towards children parents and staff.

Moppet is Hiring! Part Time RECE Teacher

Moppet is a half-day, play-based cooperative preschool for children from 1½ to 5 years old. For more than 30 years, we have been providing children with a stimulating, fun and gentle introduction to the school environment.  For details about our programs, please visit www.MoppetPreschool.com.Our bright, renovated classroom is located in Suddaby Public School in central Kitchener.
 
Responsibilities

The RECE Teacher will work in our Morning Preschool and SPARK classes along side the Supervisor/RECE Teacher. 
Responsibilities include: 
 
  • Assist senior staff in planning, preparing and carrying out  
    developmentally appropriate programs and activities.
  • Conduct activities with children on an individual and group basis.
  • Teach in a variety of techniques which include modeling,    
    observing, questioning, demonstrating and reinforcing.
  • Provide positive guidance to children, including redirecting, positive language and positive reinforcement.
  • Support and guide duty people (e.g., parents, grandparents, care-givers) in the classroom.
  • Work diplomatically and communicate effectively with a variety of people, including senior staff, children, parents, the executive board and various agency representatives.


Qualifications
  • A diploma in Early Childhood Education or equivalent
  • Current registration with the College of Early Childhood    
    Educators (RECE)
  • Demonstrated practical understanding of implementing an emergent curriculum, and supporting the developmental needs of preschool-aged children. 
  • Experience working in a co-operative or non-profit preschool environment an asset
  • A Vulnerable Sector Check, valid First Aid/CPR certificate and all necessary up-to-date immunizations
  • Working knowledge of the Day Nurseries Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Child and Family Services Act.


Our program runs for 40 weeks between September 2, 2014 and June 25, 2015.  The RECE Teacher works approximately 20 hours per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.  We offer competitive wages along with paid professional development time and activities.

DUTIES:

  • To implement engaging and developmentally appropriate activities for 8 -12 year olds which allow for choice, creativity, and independence
  • To take responsibility for the health and safety of the children in your care
  • To follow daily schedules and take responsibility for clean up and organization of supplies
  • To act as a positive role model for the children
  • To work as part of a team of Youth Development Workers
  • Maintaining effective communication with staff, parents, facility staff and co-ordinator
QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Registered Early Childhood Educator or related degree such as Recreation and Leisure, Child and Youth Worker (subject to approval by the Ministry of Education)
  • Minimum one year experience with School Age children, preferably in a childcare, education or recreation setting
  • Knowledge of the Day Nurseries Act and familiarity with the use of assessment tools such as ECERS, ITERS, SACERS, High Five
  • Enthusiasm, initiative and a working knowledge of child
    development
  • Proven ability to work as an effective team member
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Current first aid and C.P.R trainiMust have a valid drivers license and own vehicle
    Rate of pay: 
    $19.381 per hour, with an additional 2% in lieu of benefits

    Positions: 
    four part-time position:
    11.25 hours per week (Monday to Friday mornings)
    one part-time position:           
    10 hours per week (Monday to Friday mornings)
    two part-time position:          
    12.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday afternoons)

  • Plan and adapt the program and environment to meet the needs of individual children as well as the group

    • Working experience in a licensed child care setting, preferably one that has ECE students placed in it
