Payband E - $22.69 - $26.30 per hour, 35 hrs/wk, start rate is $22.69

Vacancy Type: Support Staff-Full time Temporary (Full-time Support Staff will be given first consideration)


We require two qualified individuals to work with the ECE team to provide a quality Early Childhood Education program that models the philosophy taught in the ECE program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plan, implement and document a quality program that meets the needs of individual children as well as groups of children
  • Ensure the health and safety of children
  • Plan, implement and document experiences in all areas of the program that support children’s learning
  • Supervise the play areas, activities and routines that occur
  • Observe, assess and communicate the development of the children
  • Model current curriculum practices as taught in the ECE program
  • Provide verbal feedback and direction to those less familiar with the program
  • Establish and maintain a professional relationship with parents through on-going communication
  • Participate in the initial intake process of children
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings
  • Support, assist and share knowledge/expertise with colleagues
  • Uphold the Day Nurseries Act, the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice of the College of ECE, the Centre’s staff handbook

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Two year diploma in Early Childhood Education and Registration with College of Early Childhood Educators, in good standing
  • One year experience working in a licensed child care setting that utilizes an emergent approach to curriculum
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good time management and organization skills
  • Creative and flexible, able to participate in solving problems
  • Ability to apply the principles of current curriculum practices in ECE
  • Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively
  • Preference given to those with current certification in CPR and First Aid
  • Ability to demonstrate an interpretation of the Early Learning Framework and its application to practice is considered an asset
