Part Time Child Care Teacher Needed

EMPLOYED BY:Kitchener-Waterloo YMCA
SERVICE AREA:Community Services
POSITION:Child Care Teacher
LOCATION:Kitchener-Waterloo
REPORTS TO:Supervisor, Child Care Centre
HOURS:Part Time (2 – 5 hours daily, before & after school hours/evenings & weekends as required)
SALARY:$15.36 per hour
START DATE:Immediate             

FUNCTION:  To create a stimulating, safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow, while supporting families.  Adhere to the Days Nursery Act and YMCA policies and procedures.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Create an environment that is safe, clean and welcoming
-Provide materials for children that will give them the opportunity to learn, be successful and grow as individuals
-Be responsible for communicating with parents
-Complete program plans as per curriculum requirements
-Work with team members to ensure that a diversified program is developed with established routines that supports and nurtures the development of the child
-Set-up classroom for children resulting in an environment that will be welcoming with the various age appropriate toys and activities
-Be responsible for written communication consisting of attendance and accident reports, daily communication book recording messages, and the maintenance of information sheets on each child
-Administer medication as per requirements
-Prepare developmental profiles and conduct parent-teacher interviews as required
-Provide positive child guidance
-Attend workshops, trainings, conferences and staff meetings as required
-Assume other duties as assigned

 QUALIFICATIONS:
-Completion of Community College ECE diploma or equivalent
-CECE Membership required for qualified ECE candidates
-CPR and First Aid certification
-Available Before and After School hours
-Acceptable Police Check

Creativity and Innovation:  Develops new ways or adapts existing ideas to help us achieve desired results.  Challenge the status quo to discover more effective ways of performing.
Initiative:  Do the right thing at the right time without being asked.
Problem Solving:  Identify an issue, gather and process relevant information coming up with possible solutions, select appropriate responses and implement them.

Children's Program Instructor Needed

SERVICE AREA: Member Services
POSITION: Children’s Program Instructor
LOCATION: Kitchener-Waterloo
REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Children’s Program
HOURS: Part Time (evenings & weekends as required) 

10 hours/week
SALARY: $11.90
START DATE:Immediate             

FUNCTION: 
The incumbent is responsible to function as a member of the HFR Program Team to deliver quality programs and services that ensure children and youth are learning in a fun, safe and positive environment.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
·Plan and deliver daily program activities that ensure a warm, welcoming and safe environment
·Develop and facilitate developmentally appropriate programs and materials for children and youth
·Set up and take down recreational, program and other equipment as required, checking that equipment is safe and in good repair and reporting immediately all malfunctions. Remove the damaged equipment immediately from circulation
·Maintain attendance records and information sheets that are accurate and up to date
·Develop positive and professional relationships with participants and parents, providing on-going, pro-active, communication
·Enforce all rules and regulations and maintain order in designated program area as a proactive approach to ensuring safety and accident prevention
·Take responsibility for the maintenance and cleanliness of program areas (office, equipment/storage rooms etc.)
·Attend workshops, trainings, conferences and staff meetings as required
·Assume other duties as assigned

 QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School
-1-3 months of related experience an asset  
-ECE Diploma or equivalent (an asset)
-Standard First Aid/CPR/AED
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-Second language (an asset)
-Acceptable Police Check with Vulnerable Sector Check

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Concern for Health and Safety: Acknowledges and understands how to manage and educate others of risk and harm reduction.

Creativity and Innovation: Develops new ways or adapts existing ideas to help achieve desired results.

RECE Needed at MAC MGS

Position: Registered Early Childhood Educator  (RECE)
Location: 160 Courtland Ave E, Kitchener ON
Status: Full-time and Part-time Positions Available

 MAC MGS Preschool and Childcare Center opened its doors this past September. We are a Ministry licensed child care center that caters to children between the ages of 18 months and 4 years.  We follow the emergent philosophy and are natural play inspired. 

 Primary Responsibilities:
  • Plan and implement age appropriate programs to enhance children's development while ensuring the philosophy of the program is followed for children between the ages of 1.5-4
  • Provide a safe and emotionally supportive environment while being respectful to each individuals developmental needs
  • To be a positive, caring and nurturing role model for the children
  • Follow all policies and procedures of MAC MGS Preschool and Childcare Centre
 
Qualifications:
  • Registered with College of ECE’s
  • Have either a college diploma or university degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Clear Criminal Record Check
  • First Aid and CPR
  • Experience in the field
  • Leadership skills
  • Exemplary administrative and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude towards children, parents and staff
 
Salary and Benefits: Dependent upon experience and qualifications
