What you will do…
You will be a part of a dynamic child care community and create a stimulating, safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow.  This will be achieved though planning and implementation of a consist child-centred curriculum in accordance with YMCA curriculums Playing to Learn and A Place to Connect. You are pivotal in protecting and enhancing children’s play experiences.  Observing being sensitively involved and carefully guiding extending and scaffolding play are all part of a play partners ‘s responsibility.  You create a sense of belonging through relationships, building trusted connections with children, their peers and families to support development and wellbeing. 
What you will bring…
Ideally, you have completed an Early Childhood Education diploma program and be registered with College of Early Childhood Educators. Other credentials will also be considered (i.e. Recreation & Leisure, Child & Youth Worker, Ontario College of Teachers, or Social Services Worker).  You have experience working with children in a child-centred curriculum setting.  You are committed to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to diverse needs.  You have well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills; the ability to use good judgement and problem-solve; and strong professional conduct. You have up-to-date Standard First Aid and CPR (Level C) certification, successful completion of Vulnerable Police Records Check within the last 6 months, and up-to-date immunizations including a TB test (only required in the Waterloo Region locations).

EMERGENCY SECONDARY TEACHERS – QUALIFIED AND UNQUALIFIED
Applications are invited from interested community members for Emergency Elementary Teachers (qualified and unqualified) with the Upper Grand District School Board. Successful applicants will be called out for daily emergency teaching opportunities should UGDSB OT Roster teachers be unavailable to fill daily absences. Under the direction of the Principal/Vice-Principal, you will supervise and support students in the absence of a qualified employee, ensuring a safe and secure environment at all times.

RATE OF PAY:
$150.42 per day - Unqualified
$250.79 per day – Qualified with an Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum 18 years of age
• Successful completion of Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent is required
• Prior experience (paid or volunteer) working with children is a strong asset
• Maintain strict confidentiality and privacy of student information

General Description of Duties:
As a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) you will be available for daily occasional, long term and permanent (full and part time) assignments. The responsibilities of the position include collaborating with other educators to plan and implement the Early Learning Kindergarten program within a classroom setting and/or taking the lead in implementing age appropriate learning for groups of students as part of the Extended Day Program.
 
The RECE will deliver faith-based Early Learning Programs in an environment that enhances children’s cognitive, physical, social, spiritual and emotional development.
 
Minimum Job Requirements to be considered for daily occasional, long term occasional and permanent assignments*:
  1. Knowledge and understanding of Ministry of Education’s  Kindergarten Program Document
  2. Experience in planning and implementing age appropriate programs
  3. Knowledge of related legislation and pertinent Board policies and directives such as, but not limited to Administration of Medication and/or Special Services
  4. Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and move/carry equipment for program; and must be able to physically assist children as required (e.g. lifting)
  5. Basic computer competency

Required Skills:
  • Ability to communicate (both oral and written) in a professional manner with students, parents, staff, and the general public
  • Proven ability to follow organizational policies and procedures in an appropriate and timely manner

  • One year experience as an ECE in an Early Learning or Childcare setting is preferred however new graduates or current ECE students on track to graduate this spring are welcome to apply

Responsibilities for Both Kindergarten and Extended Day Programs:
  1. Partner with classroom educators and other designated staff to plan and implement the Early Learning Kindergarten and Extended Day Program(s) through developmentally appropriate curriculum-based activities
  2. Collaborate with classroom educators and other designated staff to support individual student’s identified needs, strengths, interests and stages of development
  3. Observe, monitor and assess the development of pupils in Kindergarten and/or Extended Day Program
  4. Collaborate with classroom educators and special education teacher to carry out specialized activities to support learning for students requiring an Individual Education Plan (IEP)
  5. Collaborate with extended day team to implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum based on the Extended Day Program expectations
  6. Maintain a healthy, physical, emotional and social learning context for students
  7. Provide a variety of experiences to strengthen pro-social skills such as sharing, problem solving and cooperation
  8. Provide guidance in washroom routines, dressing and lunchtime activities
  9. Maintain appropriate records for students (e.g. health, attendance, etc.) respecting confidentiality and adhering to all privacy legislation
  10. Collaborate and maintain set-up of classroom (e.g. display, organization of materials etc.)
  11. Where applicable, attend staff meetings, appropriate school-level meetings and professional development activities
  12. Perform related administrative functions as required such as attendance and billing in the extended day program
  13. Complete any duties as assigned by Administrator or ECE Supervisor

Additional Responsibilities for Extended Day Program:
  • Provide supervision and age-appropriate programming for students registered in grades Kindergarten though grade 6
  • Perform related administrative functions as required
  • Communicate with parents and school staff as appropriate
  • Facilitate nutrition breaks
  • Complete other related duties as assigned by the Administrator or ECE Supervisor   

Rate of Pay for Daily Occasional Supply: $21.87 per hour
Rate of Pay (Grid) for Permanent & Long Term in an Assignment 40 consecutive days or more:
$21.87- $28.59 per hour**
*based on years of experience while being a member of the College of Early Childhood Educators*
**A shift allowance is provided to qualified RECEs in a permanent or long term 10:30 am to 6:00 pm assignment.

Schedule and Hours of Work:
Full-time positions:     7 hours/day plus ½ to 1 hour per day unpaid lunch
Part time positions:    3.5 hours/day             
 
Schedules will vary from school to school and will range from 7:00am to 6:00 pm
RECEs are normally called for assignments that range from a start at 8:00am to those that end at 6:00pm
Long Term assignments may include schedules that commence at 7:00 am to 2:30pm or 10:30am to 6:00pm

Registered Early Childhood Educator – Full time, Permanent
​Brason Academy Montessori School is seeking a full time RECE with immediate availability. The candidate is expected to work for approximately 30-35 hours per week and will be responsible for implementing Brason Montessori's quality programming, overseeing daily reports and documentation, as well as classroom organization.
Responsibilities
  • Provide the children with a “prepared environment” which includes making materials to support the individual needs within the classroom
  • Plan individual and/or group activities to stimulate growth of the children in social, emotional, and academic areas
  • Instruct children in each area of the classroom: giving presentations and lessons in each area including Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics, and Culture
  • Encourage individual work time to promote independence as well as group work to promote socialization
  • Identify, select, and modify work in the room to meet the needs of children with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs
  • Implement the progress of each child through individual lessons and record keeping (observations)
  • Follows the behaviour management guidelines as outlined in our school policy
  • Conduct two parent/teacher per year unless additional reviews are deemed necessary
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, and co workers
  • Participate in all open houses and school led initiatives
  • Responsible for diaper changing and/or assisting with toileting while demonstrating respect for the child
  • Performs other duties like screening and disinfection as per the policies
  • Maintains knowledge, skills and abilities through on-going education and attends professional development courses and workshops 
 
Qualifications:
Prospective candidate should have completed ECE or ECE Assistant course
Minimum of one-year experience working with preschool and/or toddler age children.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of “How Does Learning Happen? - Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years”
Demonstrate a good understanding of children’s growth and development
Adequate energy level and ability to meet the physical demands of the job.
