FUNCTION: To create a stimulating, safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow, while supporting families. Adhere to the Child Care and Early Years Act and YMCA policies and procedures.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • • Create an environment that is safe, clean and welcoming
  • • Provide materials for children that will give them the opportunity to learn, be successful and grow as individuals
  • • Be responsible for communicating with parents
  • • Complete program plans as per curriculum requirements
  • • Work with team members to ensure that a diversified program is developed with established routines that supports and nurtures the development of the child
  • • Set-up classroom for children resulting in an environment that will be welcoming with the various age appropriate toys and activities
  • • Be responsible for written communication consisting of attendance and accident reports, daily communication book recording messages, and the maintenance of information sheets on each child
  • • Administer medication as per requirements
  • • Prepare developmental profiles and conduct parent-teacher interviews as required
  • • Provide positive child guidance

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • • Completion of Community College ECE diploma or equivalent
  • • CECE Membership required for qualified ECE candidates
  • • CPR and First Aid certification
  • • Available Before and After School hours
  • • Proven computer knowledge of Microsoft Office.

SUPPLY DESIGNATED EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATORS
 
The Waterloo Region District School Board is currently seeking applications for ‘Supply Designated Early Childhood Educators’. 
 
Applications will be accepted from current Early Childhood Educator students scheduled to graduate prior to June 2017 and applicants currently registered with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators.  NOTE that conditional offers will be made to successful applicants until such time as registration with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators is confirmed.
 
The Designated Early Childhood Educator (DECE) will partner with the classroom teacher to plan and implement a full day early learning kindergarten program within a classroom setting.  The DECE will also provide supervision and age appropriate learning for groups of students as part of the extended day program as required.  The DECE will report to the Principal of the school.  
 
Successful candidates for the supply positions will be working on an “on call” basis from September to June.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hold a two year community college Early Childhood Education Diploma preferably with experience in a childcare or educational setting
  • Provide proof of registration with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators                                  
  • Hold Standard First Aid with CPR Level C/AED

Certificate of Registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators (for applicants currently registered) and proof of Standard First Aid with CPR Level C/AED must be included in your portfolio.

FUNCTION: This incumbent is responsible to create a stimulating, safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow, while supporting families.  Adhere to the Child Care and Early Years Act 2014 (CCEYA), curriculum and program model expectations (Playing To Learn, Place To Connect, How Does Learning Happen) and follow YMCA policies and procedures.  Provide support and assistance on the daily operations of the centre. 
 
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Follow the guidelines/expectations of the CCEYA , Extended Day and Youth Development Programs as defined by the school board and  YMCA Policy and Procedures
  • Create an environment that is safe, clean and welcoming.  Provide positive child guidance. 
  • Provide materials for children that will give them the opportunity to learn, be successful and grow as individuals.
  • Responsible for communicating with parents and on site partners, agencies.
