Jacob Hespeler Child Care Centre - Pedagogical Teacher

Rate: $ 28.257 per hour 35 hours per week
Locations: TBD
Permanent: 10.5 months per year ( mid August – June 30th each year )
 
Reporting to the Executive Director of  Jacob Hespeler Child Care and the Jacob Hespeler Child Care Centre Board of Directors. The successful applicant will  provide pedagogical support and leadership to the Jacob Hespeler Child Care Center programs by supporting our staff’s professional practice and their professional judgments that are central to their role in facilitating children’s learning. To actively support staff as they uphold the Jacob Hespeler Child Care Centres mission and philosophy and transform these documents into the living cultures at JHCCC’S centres.
 
Responsibilities:
•      Support and build relationships within the JHCCC community         
•      Provides the Board of Directors with support to make informed decisions.
•      Support staff as they build responsive authentic environments
•      Ensure that the curriculum meets policies established by the Board of Directors.
•      Support staff as they explore pedagogical documentation, intellectual engagement and reflective practice
•      Engage in the classrooms of JHCCC daily to support and facilitate program goals and documentation.
•      Promote the program in the community.
*      Sit on the Professional Development Committee of JHCCC and assist in the implementation of workshops and events.
 
Qualifications:
•      E.C.E. Diploma or Degree or equivalent as approved by the Ministry of Education ( as per employee agreement )
•      Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators
*      Proof of valid driver’s licence, insurance, produce an acceptable driver’s abstract and access to a reliable vehicle. Some driving required.
•      Valid Standard First Aid  & CPR Certificate
•      Ability to obtain and hold a Vulnerable Sector Police Check
•      Extensive experience in licensed child care programs and activities, including knowledge of: policies and procedures related to the operation of a child care centre; child guidance techniques for healthy children as well as children with physical or developmental challenges, child development; standard methods of behavioral observation.
•      Four years related experience in the Child Care Field.
•      Ability to communicate effectively with staff and the public.
•      Ability to set priorities and complete assigned duties with minimal supervision.
•      Enthusiasm, flexibility, dedication and dependability.
•      Good organizational and time management skills.
•      Certification through the Association Of Early Childhood Educators, Ontario

Position: Child Care Provider (part-time contract)

Planned parenthood Waterloo Region, a pro-choice agency, that provides education, counseling and access to information in order to promote healthy and responsible sexuality, is seeking a Child Care Provider to begin on Tuesday April 3rd, 2018. This is a part-time (2.5 hours a week), 6 week contract position. The child care provider reports to the program coordinator. 

Responsibilities:

1) Develop and implement a program for young children
  • Plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of children in the program
  • Develop culturally appropriate programs and activities
2) Supervise children in the day care
  • Ensure children are supervised at all times
  • Provide various experiences and activities for children
  • Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable
  • Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand

Requirements:
  • 1 Year minimum experience caring for children under the age of 14 years
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement age appropriate activities for children
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Outgoing, approachable, friendly, and engaging
  • Agree to PPWR's Policies & Procedures and sign confidentiality agreement

Requisite Training:
  • Current CPR Level C Certification

Little Farmers & Half-Day Camp Educator

Job purpose
Little Farmers is a key program within the educational program array offered by Steckle Heritage Farm. It is a parent/caregiver and child program which connects both participants with agriculture and the environment through hands on learning opportunities. The afternoon program is a half-day camp program for children who have finished JK. It operates with a maximum of 8 campers Monday to Friday from 12:30 to 5pm.
The individual will provide high quality educational and recreational experiences for participants that embody our core values of honesty, respect and community. We program with an experiential learning model in mind. We are an inclusive, welcoming and supportive work environment that places importance on cooperation, flexibility and team work.
Duties and responsibilities
Program Preparation
  • Participate actively in orientation and training
  • Plan for and prepare each lesson (including materials and resources)
  • Ensure that resources needed for your activities are ordered or arranged
  • Know and understand ALL emergency procedures associated with the camp programs.
  • Take the time to learn basic Agriculture information
During Program
  • Take turns being responsible for “opening or closing” camp
  • Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance.
  • Responsibility for campers’ safety and their whereabouts at all times.
  • Be aware that there may be times you need to adapt the camp activities for your Jr campers
  • Organize and lead a variety of small and large group activities each week.
  • Identify and respond to camper behavior issues with assistance from Supervisor
  • Ensure that the site is kept clean, organized, and free of litter on a daily/weekly basis
  • Communicate with parents about participant’s experiences and report concerns to Camp Supervisor.
  • Present a “Role Model” type behaviour at all times
  • Assist to guide Junior Counselors to have a deeper understanding of leadership and counseling skills.
Position Duties:
  •  Assist in the preparation of session lessons and activities
  • Provide inclusive, welcoming and ability responsive lessons
  • Encourage parental participation and support children when needed
  • Clean up area after each lesson
Position Requirements:
  • Experience working with children ages 2 to 6 years of age
  • OUTGOING, POSITIVE and WARM personality
  • Comfort with and love of animals
  • Understanding and appreciation for natural environment
  •  Dependable and committed
  • Strong communication skills
  • Organized

Qualifications include:
  •  Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date
Physical Requirements-Working Conditions
  • Must have the physical ability to lead and participate in activities which include, but are not limited to, hiking, team building initiatives, physical games, and activities.
  • Able to work in an outdoor environment

  •  $15 hr
  • Monday to Friday, between 8am & 5:30pm
  • June 18 to August 24th
