LOCATION:    Kitchener-Waterloo
HOURS:          Part Time (before and after school programs)
SALARY:                         $16.44/hour
START DATE:                Immediately

                               
 
FUNCTION: To create a stimulating, safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow, while supporting families.  Adhere to the Child Care and Early Learning Act and YMCA policies and procedures.
 
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Create an environment that is safe, clean and welcoming
  • Provide materials for children that will give them the opportunity to learn, be successful and grow as individuals
  • Be responsible for communicating with parents
  • Complete program plans as per curriculum requirements
  • Work with team members to ensure that a diversified program is developed with established routines that supports and nurtures the development of the child
  • Set-up classroom for children resulting in an environment that will be welcoming with the various age appropriate toys and activities
  • Be responsible for written communication consisting of attendance and accident reports, daily communication book recording messages, and the maintenance of information sheets on each child
  • Administer medication as per requirements
  • Prepare developmental profiles and conduct parent-teacher interviews as required
  • Provide positive child guidance
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Completion of Community College ECE diploma or equivalent
  • CECE Membership required for qualified ECE candidates
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Available Before and After School hours
  • Proven computer knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Clear Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Persons Screening

Communication:  Communicates in a thorough, clear and timely manner and supports information sharing and goal achievement across the Association.
Creativity and Innovation:  Develops new ways or adapts existing ideas to help us achieve desired results.  Challenge the status quo to discover more effective ways of performing.
Initiative:  Do the right thing at the right time without being asked.
Problem Solving:  Identify an issue, gather and process relevant information coming up with possible solutions, select appropriate responses and implement them.

The Waterloo Region District School Board looking new Educators

SUPPLY DESIGNATED EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATORS
 
The Waterloo Region District School Board is currently seeking applications for ‘Supply Designated Early Childhood Educators’. 
 
The designated early childhood educator (DECE) will partner with the classroom teacher to plan and implement a full day early learning kindergarten program within a classroom setting.  The DECE will also provide supervision and age appropriate learning for groups of students as part of the extended day program as required.  The DECE will report to the Principal of the school.  
 
Successful candidates for the supply positions will be working on an “on call” basis from September to June.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Hold a two year community college Early Childhood Education Diploma preferably with experience in a childcare or educational setting;
  • Provide proof of registration with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators or are a recent graduate (2016) of an Early Childhood Educator program;                                              
  • Hold Standard First Aid with CPR Level C/AED

Certificate of Registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators and proof of Standard First Aid with CPR Level C/AED must be included in your portfolio.

St. John's Christian Nursery School provides half day programs for children 18 months – 5 years.
St. John's Christian Nursery School is hiring a part time Registered Early Childhood Educator for an enhanced staffing contract.
Work hours will be Monday through Friday 8:45am – 12:00pm. Rate of pay is $15.00 per hour.
MAJOR DUTIES:
 Enhance our ratio to support our program
 Evaluates the program to make sure it meets the needs of individual children and the needs of the group
 Ensures the children’s environment is healthy and safe
 To work with outside community resources
 Attends to physical/emotional needs of children
 Works within a team atmosphere
 Contributes to the ongoing operation of the Nursery School

THE CORPORATION OF THE COUNTY OF BRUCE REQUIRES AN EARLY LEARNING COORDINATOR

The County of Bruce Social Services & Housing Department is seeking a permanent, full-time Early Learning Coordinator who will be based in the Walkerton office.  The successful candidate will be a pedagogical leader who engages and supports the child care and early learning community in the County. The Coordinator guides and mentors supervisors and their early learning teams in aligning and enhancing their programs and practices within local and provincial quality frameworks. They will respond to current needs and issues in early learning and child care including: facilitating professional learning communities, professional learning events, mentoring and consultative services. This is done independently or in collaboration and consultation with other Children’s Services team members and community colleagues. The Early Learning Coordinator is also responsible for monitoring and reporting requirements.
 
Minimum Requirements:
  • Diploma/Degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE) and a member in good standing
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience related to Child Care and Early Learning
  • Experience in coaching & mentoring Early Childhood Educators
  • Strong knowledge of the Child Care and Early Learning Act, “How Does Learning Happen?” and corresponding documents
  • Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, engagement, and teamwork skills and experience working with diverse individuals
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships, listen to the needs of various audiences and creatively meet those needs through negotiation, mediation and collaboration
  • Ability to organize and manage priorities
  • Ability to work flexible work hours which may include evenings and weekends.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Computer Literacy
  • Valid Standard First Aid with Infant, Child CPR
  • Valid driver’s license and personal transportation are required
  • Experience with adult education is an asset
