Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Supervisor of the Child Care Centre, the successful applicant will be responsible for implementing “How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years (2014)” as the document for the purpose of guiding licensed child care programs under subsection 55 (3) of the CCEYA.
Adhere to all policies and procedures as set by the Board of Directors.

Qualifications:
  • ECE Diploma or Degree or equivalent as approved by the Ministry of Education
  • Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators
  • Valid Standard First Aid & Infant and Child CPR Level C Certificate
  • An original Police Vulnerable Sector Check dated within 6 months prior to being hired
  • Certificates of completion of WHMIS and Health and Safety Training

Nanny for 2 Children - FULL-TIME CONTRACT

Full-Time Contract Nanny for 2 Children for April-September
​Location: North Waterloo near Conestoga Mall (closest intersection is Wissler Rd & Northfield Dr)

Description: We are seeking a responsible, nurturing and fun nanny to care for our 17 month old boy and 3.5 year old girl in our home. Both parents work in a combination of home and office setting, so most days one parent will be in the home working.

Availability Required: Mid-April through to September 2, 2022 (can accommodate some flexibility if needed). Hours would be Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm.

Responsibilities/Duties:
  • Prepare lunch and snacks
  • Engage with and entertain the kids throughout the day
  • Plan age-appropriate learning activities
  • Weather permitting take the kids outside at least once per day (playing in our backyard, walks to nearby parks/playgrounds, etc.)
  • Tidy up with the kids as you go throughout the day (putting toys away, cleaning up lunch dishes, etc.)

Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with kids required; training as an Early Childhood Educator appreciated (we gladly welcome students in the midst of completing their schooling).
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with booster if eligible
  • CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Non-smoker
  • Must be able to provide own transportation to our home (we will not require that you take the kids anywhere in a vehicle so a driver’s license is not mandatory)
  • Comfortable around pets – we have a very friendly cockapoo

Accepting applications for 3 full-time, permanent positions for RECE at MAAWDOO MAAJAAMIN CHILD CARE CENTRE.

Join us in becoming part of our team at Maawdoo Maajaamin Child Care Centre (under The Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation), we are a new community base, Indigenous Led Child Care Centre, opening in 2022 with a capacity of 49 child care spaces. We are looking for enthusiastic and passionate Full Time RECEs, who are dependable with a desire to grow on our journey together in the field of Early Childhood Education. We are located at the Hagersville High School in Hagersville, ON.

Hours: 37.5/week (within the operational hours of 7:30-5:00, M-F)
Salary Range: $40,297.50 - $56,821.50 (dependent on demonstratable years of experience)
Incentives:  Competitive wages, benefit package (after 6 months), pension match 4% or 8%, 8 paid PD/year, paid sick days, 2 weeks paid vacation plus Christmas break off with pay (pending yearly chief and council approval), paid training and education opportunities.

Qualifications:
  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education from an Ontario College of applied Arts and Technology, OR
  • A diploma from a recognized post-secondary program recognized by the College of Early Childhood Educators, OR
  • A letter of recognition of equivalency issued by the Association of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario (AECEO)

Key points on responsibilities/expectations:
  • Actively engage and participate in planning and supervision of emergent curriculum programming for infants through to preschool ages; in accordance with the Centre's philosophy and program statement, as well as, Provincial and Federal legislations and guidelines.  
  • Support and promote all areas of child development guided through the Seven Grandfather Teachings.
  • Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and promoting creativity through media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity. 
  • Carry out emergent curriculum with a focus on intentional teaching and reflective practice on a daily basis in accordance to Ministry of Education's Pedagogy for the Early Years, “How Does Learning Happen?” 
  • Assess the abilities, interest and needs of children.
  • Solid interpersonal skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to write and record in a comprehensive and concise manner.
  • Using a holistic approach, evaluate the effectiveness of the program in terms of meeting the needs of the children in all stages of development.  
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the children under your supervision. 
  • Developing and maintaining trust in open communication with families, external agencies, professionals in the field.
  • Commitment to helping children and families learn.
  • Willingness to learn, grow and mentor within a team structure. 
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Contribute to the effective operation of the overall Child Care Centre while promoting and implementing practices of Indigenous culture and Anishnabek heritage.
  • Adhere to the College of Early Childhood Educators Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice as well as the requirements of the Child Care Early Years Act.  
Other requirements upon hire:
  • Current (within 6 months) clear Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector clearance. 
  • Must provide up to date immunization records, or a letter stating exemption on the grounds of religion, conscience or medical recommendations. 
  • Must provide a current Health Assessment signed by a medical doctor (form provided).
  • Must obtain a Safe Food Handlers Certificate.

Full-time rece resource consultant                               (2 positions)

​This position will support the Entry to School Program in partnership with KidsAbility. The Entry to School (ETS) program is part of the new early years’ service pathway in the needs-based Ontario Autism Program (OAP). This program will support families with young children up to 6 years of age who are registered with the OAP and who are starting school for the first time (either Kindergarten or grade one). The group-based program will focus on preparing children to enter school, and target skill-building within the following six domains: communication, play, social interaction, functional routines, behavioural self-management, pre-academics, and learning and attention. Children will attend for up to six months of service, either mornings or afternoons, five days per week. Consultation will then be provided to schools to support the child's successful transition to their home school for the following six months. The ETS team is a multidisciplinary team consisting of Board Certified Behaviour Analysts, Instructor Therapists, Autism Assistants, Resource Consultants, a Speech and Language Pathologist, and an Occupational Therapist.
Requirements:
  • Early Childhood Education degree or Diploma, a Resource Teacher certificate (or equivalency), be registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (Ontario) and a minimum of two years’ direct experience working in a licensed early learning and childcare program with children who have complex needs.
  • Experience supporting children with ASD and their families is an asset. 
  • Must have a good knowledge of child development, child care best practices, family dynamics, inclusive early learning, early childhood/special needs programming, and the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 (CCEY) and the Child and Family Services Act (CFSA), Province of Ontario.
  • Demonstrated competency and skill in the use of computers and software (e.g., MS Office, databases, e-mail, internet).
  • Current Standard First Aid is an asset.
  • Access to reliable transportation.

What you will do…
You will be a part of a dynamic child care community and create a stimulating, safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow.  This will be achieved though planning and implementation of a consist child-centred curriculum in accordance with YMCA curriculums Playing to Learn and A Place to Connect. You are pivotal in protecting and enhancing children’s play experiences.  Observing being sensitively involved and carefully guiding extending and scaffolding play are all part of a play partners ‘s responsibility.  You create a sense of belonging through relationships, building trusted connections with children, their peers and families to support development and wellbeing. You will support children and other educators with your flexibility and experience working with a variety of age groups.  
 
What you will bring…
Ideally, you have completed an Early Childhood Education diploma program and be registered with College of Early Childhood Educators. Other credentials will also be considered (i.e. Recreation & Leisure, Child & Youth Worker, Ontario College of Teachers, or Social Services Worker).  You have experience working with children in a child-centred curriculum setting.  You are committed to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to diverse needs.  You have well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills; the ability to use good judgement and problem-solve; and strong professional conduct. You have up-to-date Standard First Aid and CPR (Level C) certification, successful completion of Vulnerable Police Records Check within the last 6 months, and up-to-date immunizations including a TB test
