 FUNCTION:
  • To create a stimulating, safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow, while supporting families. 
  • Adhere to the Child Care and Early Learning Act and YMCA policies and procedures.
 
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Create an environment that is safe, clean and welcoming
  • Provide materials for children that will give them the opportunity to learn, be successful and grow as individuals
  • Be responsible for communicating with parents
  • Complete program plans as per curriculum requirements
  • Work with team members to ensure that a diversified program is developed with established routines that supports and nurtures the development of the child
  • Set-up classroom for children resulting in an environment that will be welcoming with the various age appropriate toys and activities
  • Be responsible for written communication consisting of attendance and accident reports, daily communication book recording messages, and the maintenance of information sheets on each child
  • Administer medication as per requirements
  • Prepare developmental profiles and conduct parent-teacher interviews as required
  • Provide positive child guidance
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Completion of Community College ECE diploma or equivalent
  • CECE Membership required for qualified ECE candidates
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Available Before and After School hours
  • Proven computer knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Clear Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Persons Screening
 
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Communication:  Communicates in a thorough, clear and timely manner and supports information sharing and goal achievement across the Association.
Creativity and Innovation:  Develops new ways or adapts existing ideas to help us achieve desired results.  Challenge the status quo to discover more effective ways of performing.
Initiative:  Do the right thing at the right time without being asked.
Problem Solving:  Identify an issue, gather and process relevant information coming up with possible solutions, select appropriate responses and implement them.

Our Place, Family Resource and Early Years Centre is a vibrant Family Resource Centre and Ontario Early Years Centre focusing on early learning and family support.     
Our Place currently has 1 contract RECE position starting immediatly and ending 
June 30, 2017 with possibility of renewal.
 
Qualifications
Must be a registered member with the College of Early Childhood Educators or be eligible to apply.
 
Strong candidates for this position will have:
3- 5 years experience working in programs with children from birth to age 6 and their families, preferably in a community setting.
  •  Proven experience working within a diverse and inclusive environment. 
  • Demonstrated interest, knowledge and/or experience with emergent curriculum, play based learning and early learning pedagogy, specifically the Ministry of Education’s How Does Learning Happen? document.
  • Experience with parent engagement
  • Knowledge of Family Support Principles.
  • Proven ability and willingness to work as an integral member of a team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Second language an asset
  • Standard First Aid with infant/child/adult CPR required
  • Police Check and Family and Children’s Services Check required
 
Responsibilities include:
  • Implementing play based, child centered activities and programs that promote early learning and support children’s holistic development
  •  Providing a welcoming, inclusive and safe environment that supports a sense of belonging for children and their families.  
  • Assisting families in accessing information and community resources related to child development and early learning. 
  •  Set-up and take-down of program equipment and materials
  •  Ability to multi task to ensure the safety of all the children under their direct supervision, within the program guidelines
 
Hours of work: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 8:30am-3:30pm with the possibility of additional hours. Some evening and/or weekend work are required depending on programming and need.

DUTIES: 
  • To provide classroom coverage
  • To provide support and assistance to part-time and full-time childcare staff with daily centre routines and in the delivery of stimulating, developmentally appropriate play-based programming
  • To provide a warm and nurturing environment for children and families

​EARLY CHILDHOOD PROFESSIONAL RESOURCE CENTRE Part time student needed for Wednesdays from 4 - 8 PM, possible other supply opportunities
 
LOCATION:    Professional Resource Centre, ECE Building,                              Conestoga College
CAMPUS:       Doon
HRS/WEEK:    4 + 
START DATE: As soon as possible
STATUS:          Part-time, possibility to extend with more hours                            in the summer

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Professional Resource Centre is a membership based resource centre that provides a large variety of services to professionals and students in the Early Learning and Care Community. We require a qualified individual to act as a library clerk, providing information and directing members in the use of the resource library and equipment available at the Professional Resource Centre as well as maintaining office supplies and resources. This position also provides support to members and the general public regarding our services and may guide students placed at the Professional Resource Centre.
Responsibilities include:
  • Checking items in and out, following through with missing, damaged or late items, as well as coding, labeling and entering new items to the library system (maintaining inventory)
  • Providing customer service to members and the general public face to face, by telephone and through e-mail by providing general information, guidance/advice, and clarification regarding services and workshops
  • Providing orientation to new members regarding procedures related to the use of tools, equipment and lending library materials as well as maintaining membership information
  • Processing fees and registration for memberships, services and workshops
  • Other duties as assigned
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills including a positive attitude, tact, discretion and patience
  • Good organization, time management, problem-solving and multitasking skills
  • Must be a student, preference to those in a related field of study (i.e. ECE, Rec, BELPD) and availble for Wednesday evenings from 4 PM - 8 PM weekly
