Salary: $56,838.60 – $64,591.80 per annum/$31.23 – $35.49 per hour
 


Job Description:

To provide integrated family-centered services, including
screening, assessment, intervention strategies, service planning and coordination to families with infants and young children from 0 – 5 years of age with developmental disabilities or at risk for developmental delays, in accordance with the mandates of the Child & Family Services Act (C&FSA)
and Regional policy and procedures. Assesses children’s developmental status and needs by interviewing parents. Reviews children’s medical history, associated
developmental risks, previously completed developmental screens & assessments, factors affecting development, and other services the family is accessing. Conducts a family assessment to identify their strengths and needs. Establishes and reviews families’ goals and priorities within a family service
plan. Explains the role of the Infant and Child Development Program (ICDP) and services offered and discusses eligibility for services. Describes purpose and process of developmental assessments and screening; schedules assessment appointment. Creates developmental reports, skill summaries and psychological assessment reports. Implements the guidelines established by the Central West Best Practices Project to determine appropriate service level. Under the
supervision of a licensed psychologist, administers various psychometric assessments and standardized developmental tools according to standards established by the Canadian Psychological Association to children 0 - 5 years; scores, interprets, and analyzes data to determine appropriate developmental support and programming, early intervention and/or treatment services; makes recommendations for referrals. 

Knowledge and experience with therapeutic human relationships to assess needs, build rapport, and plan collaborative strategies across a culturally diverse community; family systems theory, and stages and patterns of infant and child development to identify abnormal/dysfunctional development and patterns of relating; specific family-centered intervention techniques and methods of instruction for infants and children with developmental delays which facilitate infant/child development and healthy parent-child relationships;
Ability to identify family priorities and provide service coordination; knowledge and direct experience with the administration and interpretation of clinical, standardized, family and developmental assessments (eg. Mullen, Differential Abilities Scale, Edinburgh); normally acquired through a Community College Diploma or University Degree specific to child development, plus three years experience, which includes direct work with developmentally delayed infants, family-centered interventions and developmental screening and
assessments. Ability to support and project values outlined within the MCSS Guidelines for Enhanced IDP, and the Ontario Association for Infant Development Best Practices for Infant Development Programs- 2nd edition. Ability to discuss
observations, interpretations, and recommendations with families and other professionals, and adapt style of communication according to the individual needs of the audience to facilitate their understanding; communicate with
families through active listening, paraphrasing, reflecting and reframing, sometimes about emotionally charged issues; and conduct occasional oral presentations to various groups. *Must provide an acceptable Police Records Check in order to ensure suitability for working with vulnerable populations. Ability to support and project values compatible with the organization.
